How many calories are in a bottle of beer? I'm canadian and I love my beer. I'm trying to lose weight and stop drinking beer.

I have beer question. I noticed on the Michleob Ultra label it says it only has 2 carbs, no protein or fat, however it has 95 calories. Can someone please explain this to me.

alcohol has 7 calories per gram.

and that's probably the 'net' carb count of 2g. I know that 'sugar alcohols' used in many protein bars don't have to be counted in the carb content, because the body can't use them.
but I've never heard of them being in beer.

and, Micholob Ultra tastes like the sweat off a horses' sack.

The harm in alcohol isn't the empty calories, its the ALCOHOL and its affect on muscle repair and secretion of hormones.

I'm not saying 'don't drink'...I am saying to do it in moderation, and to avoid it on days you're recovering most. i.e. if you do weights 3x a week you're better drinking a little the night BEFORE your workout when you're basically recovered, than the night of your workout, or the following afternoon.

Razorsedge,

Calories alone are not going to determine what kind of effect drinking is going to have on your fitness results. In fact, the high amount of calories are just the tip of the iceberg with regard to beer and alcohol in general.

First, your body percives alcohol as a poison, (cause it is) and in doing so whatever the alcohol is made of (barley, grapes, pears, hops) your body then percives as a toxin also and you become intolerant of it... so everytime you go and eat the food that your alcohol is made of your body reacts with a sympatheic response (releasing cortisol and decreasing testosterone and GH). Also, if you are eating other food alongside your alcohol your body will then percive IT as a toxin too. So, drinking before or with dinner can potentially create a situation where your body will react sympathetically to... cheese, meat, grains, veggies, whatever.

Next, most alcholic beverages (beer in particular) are made from cheap grains that are loaded in toxic pesticides, herbicide and fungicides. What does this mean for you?... if fat loss is your goal then you can forget it! Not only is your nervous system going to recact be having your body secrete catabolic hormones while supressing anabolic hormones but, your digestive tract will be destroyed leading to fun things like fungal infection, leaky gut syndrome and dysbiosis... all great for people who what to live devitalized and mediocre lives.

My point, take a long hard look at weather or not you are committed to your fitness goals or keeping the tavern open... discipline is the only true form of freedom, those who lack discipline are SLAVES to their moods, habits, lusts, and cheap short term desires.

Thanks for the replys, i always new loseing weight and drinking beer is an oxymoron in fitness. Thats why in the past month i've cut it out drastically (except one night for a wedding, but sin is lifes pleasures), and in my line a work and style of life, thats serious dedication. In the past 4 weeks i've managed to drop 8 pounds and already feel alot better. Thanks again.

You should just stop drinking all togeather. My Grandfather died at 52 because he drank beer alot and got problems with his heart and liver.
