Beer or hard liquor

I'm 21 years old and i'm trying to lose some fat around my waist area. The problem is, on weekend I like to go out and drink. Is it healthier to drink something along the lines of a rye and coke or is it just as bad as a beer?

Thanks
Jon

this is one of those things which make or break you.

how important is it to you to lose weight? Is drinking that important?

Every time you go out drinking, you take in useless calories and alcohol slows your metabolism down so you store more fat.

if its important enough to you, when you go out, drink diet coke or something.

I really enjoy Amstel Light and Michelob Ultra, and they both have less than 100 calories. I'm not sure on the caloric/carb count of liqour and mixed drinks, but here are two helpful sites on beer...

Domestic Beer

Imports

By the way, I think it's amazing that most beers have less calories that a can of soda!

soda doesn't stop protein synthesis. it's not all about calories.

But alcohol will stop the metabolizing of glycogen and cause the body to store it as fat.:)

The tho OP, I've heard you can undo a whole week's work in one weekend. So, it's as aevans said, how important is it to you?

Personally, I rarely drink.

If you really have to drink its better to drink straight spirits and also drink water.

Its better not to drink at all, but if your going to anyway, then thats the way to do it.
