Hello Members,

I have a query, I started at 282 lb and now approx 217 lbs although i covered a good distance of 65 lbs in 6 months but still its a long way to go... in loosing 65 lbs I have reduced most of the fat from arms, chest, thighs but I don find any significant change in the belly its still hanging long way out which is making me sick, i want get that off....

Can I somehow target my waist area to reduce fat from... ????

Since its a huge belly and lesser fat in other areas it is making me look ugly even jeans I wear are very loose from thighs but not at belly.... so to fit jeans if I get smaller Jeans its ok with thighs but cannot get it over the waist due to its size... am very scared about the shape body is acquiring after the weight loss...

Please suggest and help how to get that perfect shape...

Regards

Just keep choppin wood. You cant spot lose. You just have to keep burnin fat, eventually it will come off the belly

I have the same issue. This is the most difficult area for me as well.
Be patient. I think it has a lot to do with a genetic pattern for fat storage. Since it is impossible to spot reduce, the best thing is to stick with a good diet, lots of high intensity exercise and some resistance training. I hope this works for me too. You've made lots of progress. Don't get discouraged. Good luck reaching your goal.

add me to the list of the same problem and i agree it is very frustrating.

My belly seems to be very "loose" as well so it sags down at my belt buckle (which sucks..)

I think we have to just keep at it. I have been at it for 8 months, (started heavier than you) and i dont think it is all that realistic to undo 30 years of unhealthy living in 8 months. Here is to the next 8!

Keep your head up! I know you feel sick when you look at it and get dressed each day (at least i do), but everyone else thinks we look way way better than we did a year ago! Keep that in mind! Also, we dont see the changes but they are happening every day and week! Get a shirt a size too small and put it on once a week! You will notice your belly is shrinking even if your eye cant see it!

Also, when im frustrated about my sagging belly i remind myself of loose skin issues many people who get surgery have and tell myself..."Losing this weight over a year or two with exercise is the way to go"!

Good luck! Lets stay motivated!

I've dropped 58lbs and I still have some overhang. Nothing like as much but I'd expected it to be gone at 195lbs / 6'0".

No such thing as spot losing. Sadly. Hopefully the next 10lbs will be belly fat.

You belly WILL reduce. I found that I dropped 6-8 inches in jeans size pretty fast but took a bit of a while to get going there.

Agreed with everyone above - you cant spot reduce body fat. Instead, to speed up your total-body fat loss, look to harness these powerful strategies. 1) Use interval training instead of steady-state exercise for your cardio with a work-rest ratio of 1:2 (i.e. 30 sec max sprint, 1 min recover x 10). 2) Hit the gym with multi-joint compound exercises (bench, squat, bent-over-row). More muscle = a faster resting metabolism.

Best of Luck - James.

I always wonder if somewhere there is some specialised science center which works to see if they can alter genes or biochemistry of fats some how in order to spot reduce- can you imagine just how much money they'd make when they found the "cure"? the next Nobel Prize surely?!

these is some interesting research into this already actually. There are more than 1 type of fat cell, and certain types are in certain locations on the body... and it's therorized that certain foods can boost the production of certain types of fat cells, thus through diet changes, you can "spot reduce"... I have yet to see any double blind studies on the matter, but it's some of the best names in the bizz in terms of research scientists that are working on it, so I think there some merit there..

I like the ideal of having a shirt a size smaller, that is cool. And maybe have a pair of jeans a size smaller to. I bought a pair of swim trunks a couple sizes for next year as they were reduced this time of year in hopes that the will fit me next year.
