Beef jerky - Brit in the dark.

Hi all.

Is this a good snack?? its appearing more and more in UK shops but it sounds healthy, although the packaging makes it look like cr@p!

thanks

I was wondering this took, i've seen it in the UK supermarkets latley, and it tastes lovely... is it good though?

Except for the high content of sodium, there's nothing really wrong with it. I've had trainers recommend beaf jerky as a snack to keep around, as well.

I would not only consider beef jerky as an "ok" snack, I would say it is the most delicious thing on this planet.

I grew up with beef jerky- shoot - I've even made my own from Emus (it’s a large bird; sort of like an Ostrich).

Just look at the back. It has a ton of protein, a small shot of carbs, zero fat, and not too many calories. This whole culture thing is neat, here in Texas we actually have stores (big ones) that specialize in jerky. Rabbit, different cuts/types of beef, turkey, etc. I think I saw frog leg jerky before too. hah.

From this one (Rocking JC Beef Jerky, from ASDA UK)

Per 100gs
271cals
44.2g Protein
19.4g Carbs
1.4g Fat
2.3g Sodium

They are in 57g packs. You make Emus jerky?!?! mmmmm i'd love to try that lol
