Female - 250.2 lbs
Height -5'7 inches
Diet - Dukan
Excercise - walking
Goal weight 150 lbs

Initial goal is to lose 15 lbs my first month.



There's another Beanie on here somewhere and sorry if I'm stepping on your toes. I signed up as Beanster but that's just not my first choice.

Over the past month I've been gearing up to really get serious. I've been excercising in small amounts as that's all I actually can do.

I'm scared but determined.

I think i've heard something about the Dukan diet. I hope its not too radical because they tend not to work.

15 pounds in one month is a big ask. You might be setting yourself up for failure. It would be much more sustainable to lower your sites and be happy with whatever happens so long as its going down.

What tends to happen when people lose a lot of weight fast is the body reacts and you get an enormous appetite at some point down the track and just pile it all back on again in record time. One kilo a week is an easily sustainable weight loss. Losing a few more than that in the beginning wont' hurt you either.

You should not be eating too few calories or you will stuff up your metabolism and the above will result. As a female you must eat at least 1200 calories per day to maintain organ function. If you eat less, your body will take energy by breaking down some of your organ muscle as well as skeletal muscle.

There's a lot of good information about how to lose weight safely and successfully around this forum.

By all means, follow your Dukan diet if you think its healthy but don't try to eat too few calories.

Exercise helps but when you are really unfit, you just have to build up slowly. Again to avoid injury.
 
I know it does seem like a lot but I figured that I'd probably lose a good 5-7 lbs in water weight, I usually do drop a fair amount that first week and the and lose the rest more moderately thru the month.

I did think it might be too high, but on the other hand I thought I'd challenge myself a little bit, if it's overly optimisitic it's ok, I know this is going to take a good long while.

The Dukan diet, it offers a really large selection of veggies in comparison to some, my brother has been using it and some of his friends as well. They are looking good.

Thanks for letting me know about the 1200 minimum calories, I'll be sure to heed that!
 
OK, well today went pretty good, I naturally have had some cravings for sweet but, it's been manageable.

I ate a fair amount but haven't tallied it all up, I'm pretty sure it's close 2 1600 cals for my first day.

I dropped 2 lbs but I'm pretty sure that's just water weight making sure that I drink plenty of fluids.

I dunno if this is excercise but I ironed about 5 loads of laundry, and tonight I'll be working out. I will get this organized but would rather start rather than my usual take so long to get organized forget to start.
 
Roflao 5 loads of ironing is just a bloody lot of hard work. Where's the icon for a medal. You need one. I don't iron anything anymore. That probably makes me very lazy but i prefer to think of myself as very efficient. :p

If its not too much trouble, are you going to write a food log or is that too much effort? I like reading about what people eat. Especially if its interesting. It gives me ideas. I'm a bit of a foodie.

I agree its a good idea to start as soon you can.
 
I was just working out my food log for today. I'm not following that new Dukan thing just yet. my sister wants to start it with me in a week or so (she has company). I tried to keep the carbs down but not so low I'd start walking into walls.

Breakfast; 1 apple, 1 container yogurt 1.5 oz assorted nuts 300 cal total

Lunch: Salad greens little dressing, 2 slices bread, 2 oz Salmon 260 cals

Snack: burger patty - 250 calories

Dinner: Spagetti Squash 1.5 cups w/ 1 cup meat sauce 315 calories

Snack: apple 65

2 cups coffee black

4 cups of water (darnit I meant to drink more but the night is young)

I think I over-estimated how many calories I ate to day. Hell must have frozen over! 1190 calories! wow that's pretty good, mind you I was eyeballing but I'm being honest!

I have never had spagetti squash before! I LOVE IT!! I don't like pasta very often and am not overly fond of spagetti w/ meatsauce but I really enjoyed that meal! I don't think I'll ever cool past with meat sauce again!

Oh ironing is my zen, I even do socks.. You just smooth out all the wrinkles in life, it's very peaceful. It's not for everyone but I've met a few freaks like me who love it.
 
You make ironing sound wonderful. Keep at it then if it rocks your boat. You can come over here and iron my sheets also if you run out of stuff to iron. I still don't htink it would burn up too many calories but it has to be a few more than sitting watching tv.

I don't know what spaghetti squash is. I can't even imagine what it is.

Is this canned meat sauce you are talking about? Have you ever made your own? Its so yummy i can tell you how if you like. then you will never look back. Well at least i can't imagine it.

Could you note your height in your initial paragraph. Those of us who like to help people get their diets going well, need the basic info like height to make sense of what you are doing. But if you are not bothered by our input, then it doesn't matter of course.

I've eaten canned tomato sauce but canned meat sauce sounds disgusting. I made it myself.

I do not mind sharing recipes

Oh i see, its a type of vegetable. Interesting. WE don't have that here.


Canned meat sauce doesn't sound so good and its certainly not as good as home made but i just couldn't see that you would cook food you don't like. lol. Obviously you do.

If i was camping, i'd be thrilled to even eat canned bolognese believe me.
