Beach Running. Barefoot or Running Shoes?

I have a pain in my right ankle, and recently I started jogging/walking on the beach (Lose & Firm Sand). I wanted to know which is advisable, shall I run/jog with running/tennis shoes or barefoot? And Lose Sand or Firm Sand?

And I should probably point out, its for weight loss.

Don't you think running or jogging with a pain will hurt you more? You also do other exercise for weight loss, including which are not related to legs or ankles..

I wouldn't jog with ankle pain, that will probably make it worse.
Are you new to jogging or have you done it for a while? Do you have any foot problems like over pronation? Do you go barefoot a lot normally? If you answered no to most of those questions then I would recommend shoes. If you are interested in barefoot running I might suggest looking into some minimalist footwear - if for nothing else than to protect the bottoms of your feet from beach debris like glass and twigs. If you’re overweight, or have nerve damage, diabetes or any serious orthopedic issue, you need a more supportive shoe—minimal shoes aren’t made for everyone.
Running on sand is harder than running on on other surfaces - so definitely a great workout but not recommended for the beginner runner. I might suggest walking in sand first (also a good workout!) :)
