Hi guys im new here i hope im open the theader in the right place, ok so i really need some advice
i just dont get it about the Basal metabolism..

I have calculated my basic sales and it says that i can eat 1480 calories a day without working out, just going to the toilet and the typical everydday stuff without gaining weight? and somewhere else i read that you must eat 500 calories less then your Basal metabolism too loose weight.....and somewhere else i readed that you should eat at least 1200 calories to keep it the healthy way and now im really confused cause 1480 minus 500 would be around 900 calories and thats under 1200, what should i do? how much calories can i eat and still loose weight in a healthy way without gaining it back  i hope someone understands what i mean and can give me a answer im so confused

Hello,

You are confusing basal metabolism (This is abbreviated as BMR or RMR) with your TDEE (Total daily energy expenditure)

Your BMR is the number of calories your body consumes to keep itself alive (You would use those even if you were completely still for 24 hours). The number you want to subtract from is your TDEE.

You need to multiply your BMR for an specific value to get your TDEE.

Usually, you multiply for 1.2 if the person is sedentary, 1.3 - 1.375 if lightly active and 1.4 - 1.5 if moderately active.

You can also find calculators for it if you google 'TDEE calculator'.

Also, keep in mind that the numbers are estimations only! You may need to tweak the number a bit based on real world results.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Hi everyone! I want to know why I'm not losing weight**. I've just tried different kinds of diets but it doesn't work.
I'm 16 years old,
132 lbs ,
5'1*

Here ia my diet history(the one without advice of someone or simply I just do my own diet without reaearching and without knowing it would be dangerous)

When I'm Highschool i don't eat breakfast, I starve always and I do it for almost 2years . I didn't also
take my lunch. I just buy snackk in our canteen knowing it won't make me fat. And in dinner, i eat a lot. Sometimes small meals.*
In my almost 6months of doing this. My friends tell me that I'm getting thin, but then after 1 year and more months. They notice i'm not getting thin and tell me to avoid skipping meals. I'm not starving so I continued. And now I'm college student,i want to research about healthy diets that won't affect my health badly. But now i tried everything (calorie deficit - eating
less calorie more than my body burns) , while doing (low-carb diet,50kg of carbs only or low per day)
I never eat unhealthy foods/drinks(candies,energydrinks, junkfoods, verybsweet foods etc) and start eating fruits and vegetables.
i eat small meals every three or four hours to keep my metabolism going(limiting it to 1,000 cal per day or 1200 because my bbody burns 1,400 cal a day.

i don't know what to do. But my body don't change. And the number on scale*
