Bad pain in shoulder...

hi,

ive been having problems with my right shoulder for about 6 months now but i havnt been to the doctors because i just thought it would ease off after a while...what it is, everytime i lift my arm up high and twist it (eg. lifting something off a shelf etc) i get a really aching feel in bicep region. also if i squeeze the top of my arm the pain is quite bad.....the only thing i can think of doing was sleeping on my arm wrong and ever since them it hasnt been 100%

id just like to know if theres anything i can do to stop it or will it gradually go away its self...

thanks

get a sports massage.
if after a few sessions it doesnt clear up then go see your doc, but realisticly he'll only give you pain killers unless he feels there is a bigger problem.

You probably have some scar tissue in the bicepital groove, which is where your deltoid inserts and biceps originate. It could be from a classic impingement sydrome (chronic bursitis in A/C joint). Or you may just have adhesions in the pec minor/major that could be worked out with a good soft tissue release to clean out that scar tissue.

It's really hard to tell without seeing you in person, so please don't take my advice from a random guy on the internet. You may just be one cortizone shot away from being fixed.

Make an appointment with a good orthopod and let them take some images of your shoulder (MRI) so you can determine what's really happening. You could have something torn that is a quick, minor repair.
