I fell off the wagon of healthy eating about year and a half ago due stress then depression. My Mom had cancer and passed away and I took it pretty hard. After she was gone I knew I had to snap out of it and get it together but it's easier said then done.
Friday I went to the doctor because of a earache and when the nurse took my blood pressure I was shocked to see that my blood pressure was 160 over 120 ....holy smokes. I have never had a issue with my blood pressure before and it looks like I'll have to put this depression crap on hold, time to get to work.
I bought a blood pressure machine at Costco today and loaded up on fresh fruits and veggies at the local grocery store. I also dusted off the treadmill in my basement and walked for 35 minutes.
I was a regular in the forum a while back and always remember Mal talking about sodium . At the time I was eating 9 servings of fruits and veggies a day and getting my exercise in so I never paid much attention to sodium. Well after close to a year and a half of stuffing my face with heavily processed foods and moping around in a fog I have to deal with the effects of sodium.
My plan is to cut out as much processed foods as possible and eat fresh fruit and veggies every day. I'll also eat more skinless chicken, fish, and STEAK for protein.
My goal is to lose weight but I'll be more concerned about the readings on the blood pressure monitor than the scale.
