Back problem recovered but now i can't do crunches.

hi I tore a small muscle in my lower back a couple months back right above the buttox, but have no issue with it anymore.

I do have a problem doing crunches now though. Im guessing from the atrophy but, im not really sure.

I have no problem doing the actual crunch it is on the decline where my abdominals shake uncontrollably. It doesn't hurt... it is just very very annoying and hard to concentrate on doing the exercise properly.

Any suggestions on what I need to do.

Also If I stop mid crunch and just sit there my abs will just contract repeatedly ridiculously fast.

I've read that you should just keep doing them but... its been weeks now where I see no improvement... my abs are getting stronger I am just curious if theres something else i should focus on strengthening as well.

I would first off definitely go see a doctor because there could be something else wrong. My boyfriend has the same back issue and sometimes there isn't anything you can do about it, but muscle relaxers may help for a while until you can build the strength up in your core to come off of them. Declines put more stress on the back and core than regular crunches. You can try other core excercises. If you go to the top of the page there is a section named excercises. Just click on it and let it know you need core exercises, and it will give you a huge list.I would go through and pick a couple of them and see what works best for you. Decline may just not be your friend.
