Back in the Saddle

Hi All,

My story is likely not unique. I am 33 years old and in the worst shape of my life. I was an avid fitness enthusiast in my early 20’s, but graduate school, marriage, work, and apathy gradually led me to lose my focus on fitness. After a divorce about 2 years ago, I began drinking heavily, ceased exercise entirely, and ate very poorly. I have gained a lot of weight and currently stand 5’5” at 190lbs. Somehow I’ve preserved some muscularity, but it is well hidden under a complete layer of adipose.

A week before the New Year, I quit smoking and drinking entirely, and joined a gym where I have been working out 6 days per week. I am slowly cleaning up my diet and have begun taking some supplements (mrps and fat burners). I look forward to drawing on all of your strength and advice. I have been lurking here for a week and see that this is a great site.
