It's been a week now, and I am actually down 10lbs. Wow, it does NOT show. I think my loss is in water weight. I hope I'm not just sustaining. Maybe I really didn't weigh myself correctly. Of course that scale is about 10 years old.

Maybe I should go digital.....hmmm

so...i went digital...and found out my old scale was off by ten pounds. And not off on the good side.

I almost paid extra for the scale that monitors body fat, but i'd rather not start out each day pissed off.

I did my 2000 calories all week, and I didn't lose anything. I wasn't hungry, but I think I'm just sustaining my weight with 2k. I'm going to lower it to 1500 this week.

I guess we'll all see how it goes.

Hi, Ashton's dad. Cute kid, by the way!

First, I wanted to congratulate you on what you've lost so far. It's likely that it is water weight mostly, but 1-3 pounds could be real fat loss.

Are you exercising too? How much water are you drinking?

I almost paid extra for the scale that monitors body fat, but i'd rather not start out each day pissed off.

Do you have to weigh yourself every day? It might be a good idea for you to just do it once a week or once every two weeks or once ever 10 days. There are plenty of people on here who weigh themselves every day and plenty of people do weigh themselves using the intervals I mentioned above and some people just don't weigh themselves, but instead use how their clothing feels/fits. Some people just take pictures every 2 weeks or every month if they aren't weighing themselves. I personally find weighing myself every day or even once a week frustrating and disappointing. My point is, do what's right for you and try to stay away from doing things that will cause disappointment because that can lead to demotivation and let down, which could then cause you to stop or stray from your program.

Where did you come up with the 2k calories? I'd be careful about going too low, but I'm sure you've heard that spiel from many people here already.

Anyway, good luck and keep up with the weigh loss!

I was going to do a 1200 calorie start, but realized that I was taking in around 3500 calories on a normal basis. I was told by many people 1200 would be too few. So I bumped it to 2000.

At 2000 I didn't feel like I was dieting. Also, at the end of the day around 7 or so, I sometimes hadn't taken in all 2000, so I was eating just to get my number right. I thought that might not be the right thing to do.

Checking my weight every day doesnt frustrate me. It helps keep me on track, but I do like to be funny. Hence, the body fat statement.

Thanks for writing!
