Toning is the combination of building muscle and losing body fat. You have to build muscle in order to look toned. I'm assuming you're a female "pilatesmom"? If you're worried about building too much or bulky muscle........don't. There is not enough testosterone in your body. YOu would have to devote your life to bodybuilding for the next 12 years in order to build the kind of muscle you are worried about getting. If it was that easy to build muscle, everyone would be huge. The women you see that are have great muscle tone is from years and years of working out and keeping their body fat low. Start a complete overall body weight training program (don't focus on just your arms) and your arms will start to look better.........along with the rest of your body.
