Hello all,
First of all this seems like a great resource. Thanks for having me.
I recently (within the last year) developed an injury in my right arm know as "Cubital tunnel syndrome" or "Ulnar Tunnel Syndrome". Basically the nerve that passes through your elbow to your hand (funny bone) becomes inflamed or damaged and you have pain, numbness and loss of coordination in your hand, specifically your pinky and ring finger. The hand doctor said that surgery is an option, but as I am a graphic artist / illustrator, I don't want to risk losing ANY dexterity so would like to avoid this. Any repitition of elbow bending can make it worse.
So to make a short story long, I've had to quit swimming, which has been a wonderful and successful excercise for me. I had a fairly toned body (6'0", 160 pounds) with defined arms, chest and abs (swimmer's V), etc. It has really hit me hard to lose this form of exercise, and even though I've been able to maintain my basic body shape due to cycling, walking, etc, I am watching my arms and chest slowly fade away.
I was wondering if there are any excercise regimens that will help me maintain a good body (arms and chest specifically). I am an avid cyclist and plan to schedule 1 hour rides for cardio at least 3 times a week. this will also take care of my legs and will provide some upperbody and chest. I can do crunches for abs I suppose. I am a very healthy eater so nutrition not an issue.
However, I cannot lift weights or do pushups due to the damage to my Ulnar nerve under heavy repitition. So how can I keep my chest and arms in shape without weight training or anything strenuous like pushups?
I know this may be a shot in the dark, but please if anyone could help me out that'd be great. I know swimming's the best but I can't go back!
Thanks
