are vitamin C supplements necessary?

i was just wondering if it's necessary to take vitamin C supplements every day if you are already eating a lot of fruit and veg throughout the day?

Also, I found some omega 3 supplements in my local pharmacy, and i thought they might be worthwhile seens as people on here are always saying how you need to have those in your diet. Should I take these, or am I ok if I'm eating tins of tuna each day?

(If it makes any difference, I'm on a bulking phase).

Given the intensive farming methods of today, and the amount of anti nutrients we consume or breath the answer is yes.

Fruit and veg simply doesn't have the same level of nutrients it used to have, and we used to eat it fresh off the plant, not a week later. Pollution, alcohol, smoke etc robs us of nutrients, and we can't avoid all of these.

I don't know if it helps with bodybuilding or cardio but it certainly helps the immune system to take extra vitamin C. I take 2.3 grams daily, 2 grams from 1 gram vit c pills and .3 from my multivitamin. The amount you need will vary, but 2-3 grams daily is a good guide. Be warned, it can "irritate your bowels" if you take too much. I have no problems on 2 grams, some people get problems on 1 gram or are fine up to 10 grams. Vitamin C is not toxic in any amount so don't worry about taking too much.
 
cracked lips is likely a sign of inadequate fat intake. might need some EFA/fish oil pills.

Take a good multivitamin everyday. It will take care of what your diet may be lacking.
 
Cracked lips can also be a sigh of a vit b2 deficiency. Poly/mono fats and zinc, both of which are essential for good skin condition, may also help with cracked lips.

I've never heard of a vit c deficiency causing cracked lips. Deficiency signs for vit C include frequent colds, lack of energy, frequent infections, bleeding or tender gums, easy brusing, nose bleeds, slow wound healing, red pimple on skin.
 
sometimes but if u need a quick dose of vitamin c, try this stuff called E-mergen-C, find it at any nutrition store loaded wit vitamin c vitamin b and gives u energy,,, it comes in a packet u pour it in a glas or bottle of water and it dissolves.....its real tasty....but some times if u got a real good multi vitamin ur alset let me know though peace stay healthy
 
Vitamin C supplements are still important even though you eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. I eat a lot of nutritious food often but I still take a Vitamin C supplement everyday to invigorate me and help me become physically fit. Taking vitamin C supplements will help you have a healthier lifestyle. So why not try? It will be worth it.
