April's diary

Hi everyone. This is my first time ever attempting an online weight loss diary so bare with me..

I am 20 years old, 5'5 and weigh 156. I would love to lose about 30 lbs and reach my target weight of 126 lbs. I am tired of having low self esteem and I'd also like to be healthier since high blood pressure runs in my family.

I have a problem with over-eating plus not enough excercise but I am seriously going to be focused this time around. I know I can do it, I just need the will-power. It would also help if I had support, which I have about zero in real life, so that's another reason I think I'll like these forums... lots of support here from what I can tell. :)

I did try once before to lose weight.. though all I really did was stop eating fast food and only drink water. In a month, I lost over 10 lbs from that alone! Since then I have pretty much gained the weight back and would really like to lose it.

Here's what I had to eat so far today:
Breakfast: 1 serving of blueberries, 1 slice of wheat toast
Snack: Half banana
Lunch: Half grilled chicken breast, 3 slices of grilled red peppers

^^Honestly, that is the healthiest I have eaten in a long time, sadly.. lol. I plan on keeping it up. After I put my daughter down for a nap, I'm going to watch some workout videos (online because I haven't ordered one yet but I plan on getting turbo jam because I've heard great things about it.)

Well that's all I have to say for right now.. I have a looooong way to go.

Hey welcome to the forum and congratulations on starting your journey :)
I'm sure coming on here will really help to motivate you - knowing people are doing the same thing and also knowing you'll have to tell people you slip up really helps you to stay on track!
Just keep thinking of how you'll feel when you've lost the weight and the naughty stuff will seem a lot less tempting!

Thanks for the welcome, Kirsty!

I screwed up last night big time... I was on a roll to eating healthy and then I ended up eating a small bag of chips and a hamburger with just ketchup...oh and I had a little piece of chocolate cake. :(

I'm so baaad....... ok today though I am NOT going to binge out and eat bad stuff. I'm going to go ahead and WRITE down calories in a notebook, maybe that will help me.. and soon I am going over to my grandparent's house because they have a treadmill. I plan on staying on it for at least 30 minutes and then watching a workout video.. (I did a work-out video yesterday so my legs and abs are SORE as heck but it's ok)

So, all I have had to eat so far today is breakfast, which was 1 slice of wheat bread and half a banana.

I'll update later

Hey, welcome. I started my weight loss journey a little over a week ago...I'm 21, male.

Write down what you're eating, post it here and then you can keep track and are less likely to over eat or under eat.

Regarding the binge, think of it this way. At least you didn't have a big bag of chips, you had a small bag and no ketchup, that's a step in the right direction, because you could've had more but you didn't.

Yesterday my mom brought home panda express...not the healthiest meal by any meals. But I was able to portion it out and make the best of the situation...you can do it! I'll keep checking in, good luck.

Thank you for the encouragement! :)

Well, I got on a scale today and found out I weigh 11 lbs lighter than I thought I was (I'm 156) so I guess that's a plus.. now I only have 30 lbs to my goal weight, lol.. still far away though.

For exercise today I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I wanted to do more than that and do some cardio workouts but my leg muscle is literally hurting SO bad from the excercise I did yesterday.. i guess maybe I should have done a warm up first.. or maybe it's just the fact that I'm not used to working out period, lol. '

It's good to hear that you could still make the best out of the panda express meal (mmm) and you are making a consious effort to lose weight. That's very encouraging and I'm trying to remind myself to stay strong, even though I just started, it is SO hard to change my old ways...but I am working at it a little bit at a time.

It's hard at first, when I started a little over a week ago, I had mad cravings for better cheddar's (a salty cheese snake, I love that stuff), but after one week of eating healthy and only eating good foods that aren't processed, I have zero cravings for that stuff now. Since I reduced my calories so much, sometimes I'm hungry during part of the day, but its mostly under control.

The first day I started, after I exercised I was SOO sore. Literally, I could barely walk. ..but after about 4 days it goes away. Now I've been doing the couch to 5k program for 3 days straight, it's working out great I'm enjoying it just wish my shin's didn't hurt so bad after a run. I think that'll go away with exercise too.. Keep at it!:smash:

You may also want to get a ticker to track your progress, you can then put it in your signature. Click on mine to go there

Well I know I haven't wrote in here for a little bit but honestly, it's because I am ashamed to say I have been doing terrible...

I don't know what happened.. I just completely lost focus again. I think it had something to do with how sore I was after Jillian michael's exercises that I didn't work out for a few days because it took that long for my legs to recover, and then I just stopped completely......

I have been pigging out and eating all the wrong foods. :(

But, I just received my Turbo Jam DVD today so I'm motivated again to start with that and I look forward to seeing my progression..

What I really need though is a food plan and I need to STICK with it.. My problem is, I don't have alot of money, and when I do get paid, I end up blowing all my money on going out to eat with the husband and daughter, or spending money on frivelous things when I really need to be going to the grocery store and buying fruits and vegetables...... another problem though is I'm a terrible cook. Well, I'm not terrible, I just don't know HOW to cook. lol. I know.. excuses, excuses, right? Well that's probably true... I think I just need to push myself. No one can lose the weight for me. Only I can do it and I need to remember that..

My first plan for tonight is taking the dreaded before pictures of myself.. oh how I dread this.. Usually when I take pictures, they are pictures of my face only and I try to make myself look thin. Well, I'm just going to take a body shot and get it over with..
*sigh*

I can do this......

You can do it! I believe in you! Posting pictures of yourself and your progress will be a great motivation for you, I did it in the progress section (even though its embarassing) its a good motivation to keep going and seeing the changes that you're doing.

You may want to start the couch 2 5k program, try doing the first week. Its a running regime and isn't too difficult but isn't easy either...eat right and do that and you'll be good. I used to do it before I got a bike, but my ankles hurt so bad (and still do) I chose to do biking instead.

So, I got it over with last night and took some before pictures of myself, though I don't plan on posting them for another month, that way I can take a new picture of myself and compare..

Today has been an okay day so far...

First thing I did when I woke up was pop in my Turbo Jam DVD and did a quick 25 min cardio workout... I am still learning the moves but it seems fun so far, and it really got me sweating! I plan on doing one more tonight after my daughter is sleeping, that way I can practice the moves and get a little better at it.....

Breakfast: 1 fresh peach, 3/4 cup honey nut cheerios (no milk)
Lunch: cheese sandwich with wheat bread (didn't finish it all) and serving of
corn.
Snack: 1 fresh peach

Haven't had dinner yet but I plan on going to the grocery store shortly and getting a few ingredients to make turkey chili.. I already have the ground turkey defrosted, just need some spices and onion.
I've never made it before so hopefully it comes out okay.. lol

I had my turkey chili.. it was soo good, I had two servings and put a little bit of fat free sour cream and fat free cheddar cheese on top...
also had 1 slice of 100% whole grain wheat bread with 1 tsp butter..

yummy. :)
