Apparantly I look like I lost weight...

So I've been recently told by a few people that I look like I'm losing/have lost weight. This is awesome and I couldn't be happier that people are noticing, but the strange thing is my body measurements are and have been the same for the last month or so. My weight is going down but hardly any inches.

Does anyone know why this is? I'm a little confused.

I see by your ticker that you've lost nearly 20 lbs. It could be that people are just finally seeing that loss. I know most people didn't recognize that I'd lost weight until I'd passed the 20 lbs mark.

If you're continuing to lose, your measurements will catch up eventually. :)

Okay, that's kind of what I was thinking. Also, the weight loss took place in a span of about a year  (I know, I know...) So that makes sense...

Thanks for your reply =)

If you're measuring yourself after a workout - especially a pretty intense one, you may be retaining fluids ("pump") and that may affect your measurements - I notice after a pretty intense resistance workout I will temporarily gain 3-4 lbs of fluids for a day or two. This is a good thing, it means your muscles are repairing, getting stronger and denser (and that means more calorie burning).

oh boy, I share your confusion!

did you lose your first bit of weight in your face? that's where it always starts, and it's what everyone you know sees. :)

I think it's also a mindset thing. I still feel as big as a year ago. I have to look at old photos to be reminded of how far I've come. It's a weird phenomenon. But really, there's nothing better than someone else (especially not in your family) insisting that they see a difference in your weight. It's one of the best "encouragement highs" I know of. Hell, even if they're just saying it to be nice, I'll take it.
