Anyone tried NLP for weightloss/workout motivation?

I tried a search and didn't find anything by either name for this (NLP and neuro linguistic programming) so I figured I'd ask.

I've used NLP in other parts of my life to overcome some pretty big obstacles such as getting over fear when I want to start a conversation with a women who looks interesting (this is harder than it sounds, if you aren't a guy you probably won't understand however, so go ask one). I've probably memorized about 4 books on the subject and seen some 'sketchy' references to people using it for weight loss. I was curious if anyone knows the details on what approach they are taking?

Are they attempting to re-frame the situation behind needing to lose weight to be a positive thing with an affirmation like "I'm already a completely healthy person inside, all I need to do is some work to display that to others". Other possible ways they could use it would be something like self hypnosis to generate positive reinforcement on the long-term effects of staying healthy (this helped me a lot with self-confidence issues).

Anyway, now that I've gotten overly drawn out and not really asked as question as much as made a statement let me fire off the quick version of the question:

Has anyone tried NLP to reach their fitness goals? If so, what approach was taken and how effective was it for you?

Thanks,

I've used NLP and CBT with a lot of success with myself and more so with obese clients.

Presuppostions

NLP makes a number of presuppositions. Presuppositions or assumptions are the beliefs a person will find useful in effecting changes to themselves and/or to the world. (Some people call these as the "givens".)

Examples of presuppositions:

1. Communication is more than what you are saying.
2. No one is wrong or broken. People work perfectly to accomplish what they are currently accomplishing.
3. People already have all the resources they need.
4. Behind every behavior is a positive intention.
5. Every behavior is useful in some context.
6. The meaning of a communication is the response you get.
7. If you aren't getting the response you want, try something different.
8. There is no such thing as failure. There is only feedback.
9. Having choice is better than having no choice at all.
10. In any system, the element with the most flexibility exerts the most influence.
11. The map is not the territory.
12. If someone can do something, anyone can learn it.
13. You cannot fail to communicate.

Some interesting points there...
