I've been experiancing this tingly feeling this past week. The first time I felt it was last week when I was at a soccer game, sitting "indian style" and I felt like my leg fell asleep. So I went to stand up to "walk it off" when I almost fell b/c my leg just wastn' wanting to cooperate at all. So I stood for a minute trying to move my foot and work it off. Then I tried to go behind the group of on lookers when i almost fell again b/c my leg was not cooperating. It took almost a full 5 minutes for that tingly feeling to wear off. Never took anywhere near that long before.

SO, two or three dys later I was at another soccer game, NOT sitting indian style my legs were slightly bent, but not at any hard degree, when I felt the tingling return. It wasn't quiet as bad as the 1st time, but it was still a bit concerning.

Then, yesterday, I was sitting on a reclilner at my moms, my arms on the arm rest when my elbow down to my fingers got that really intense "falling alseep" feeling...again, it took a long while to wear off.

My mom wonders if its b/c of my weight...but ive been at the same weight for a good 2 or 3 yrs now. I'm worried it might be serious. What do you guys think? Ever go through this??

Hmm can you get tested for diabetes?
It's usually one of the symptoms.
It can also be your blood circulation.
Sitting in the indian style could cut off the blood supply a bit which means your leg/foot will go numb.
Either way, can't hurt to get it checked!

Thanks for the responce. Yea, i've been tested before for diabetes, i'm good there. I thought about with sitting indian style could cut off circulation, but thats why I am concered b/c the other 2 times i wasn't sitting that way. Like I said, it happend in my arm yesterday.

I dont' have insurance so i'm gonna wait and see if it keeps happening or not before I go to the dct.

It sounds like a circulation issue to me but I am not a physician. Regardless I would get it checked out ASAP if you are experiencing it in more than one area because that could mean a blockage in an artery. If it was just the legs I would think the issue would be centralized there but if you are getting it in your arm as well is very well could be an issue with an artery leaving the heart, or it could just have been a weird experience related to a temporary dietary change. Either way consult a professional soon because if it is a blockage in an artery that could lead to something far more serious and fast.

As far as insurance goes you could try checking with a health clinic if you are near one. I do not have insurance either but finally decided to see a doctor about a shoulder issue of mine, I went to a clinic where they have a program that allows you to pay a set amount based on income for services they provide and it turns out I qualified for paying only $35 whenever I need to see a doctor at that health clinic, and I even had to get x-rays which were included in that price!

Get it checked soon, I hope it is nothing too serious. In the mean time try to stay active (nothing too strenuous though) to help keep your circulation up.

thanks matt! I worry about my heart to begin with (or a blocked artery, i didn't think about that) b/c once in a while when I do some walking, i feel pressure on my heart and it worries me.

Generally these things are not our worst fear so I wouldn't worry just yet.

It could also be a minor nerve issue. Sometimes when I have been sitting awhile and stand up I find one of my legs (particularly the left) can feel a bit weak and awkward, slightly numb but once I walk a little it goes away. It just means I have probably put pressure on a nerve in the leg and it has gotten a bit numb.

I'd leave it a week and if it continues or gets worse then speak to a doctor. If it's not too troublesome then maybe speak with an online doctor first as they will ask for additional symptoms which will quickly rule out some more serious conditions.

But some of these odd little issues are simply part of aging.

I've been experiancing this tingly feeling this past week.

We all get those tingly feelings. It's completely natural and it's a normal part of growing up. And, you'll continue to get those feelings as an adult. In fact, every time I'm with my beautiful girlfriend, Jen, I too get those tingly fee...

..wait. Maybe I should read the rest of your post.

OOOOOH, you weren't...you meant...yeeeeeah.

Yeah, it happens sometimes. I'm surprised you've never felt this before. It's like having a lot of needles in one place, right? (it's informally known as having The Needles) Honestly, it doesn't happen often, but it usually happens after you ignore the first warning that you need to shift your weight. If you sleep on your side, sometimes, you'll wake up with your arm DEAD asleep, and you really feel it, and it does take a while to go away. Although the frequency of your occurrences, and that is localized to one place does concern me bit. I would suggest taking a few long walks this week, if you can.

I have been having the same issues for the past year or so. It's not the typical body parts going to sleep thing though. Sitting in one position for periods of time never did this to me before, but lately it has hit me as odd. 10 min sitting on my leg now makes it completely numb. About three yrs ago I made my doctor give me an ekg which came back normal and I have recently had complete blood tests and CAT scan done and everything came back normal. Soo, I don't know either, but if you find anything else out that could be causing it, please let me know. I have also been researching migraines and one of the symptoms of an onset is numbness and tingling, have you had trouble with migraines at all?

thanks for the responce!
While I do have migraines occasionally, I don't think i've ever had them the same day as my numbing "episodes". I had another one the other day....I was sitting in the car, hands on my lap, or maybe on the middle consile, but yea, my arm went numb off and on for a full 3 hours!! i was sooo upset! I went to bed with a numb arm but then woke up and it was fine. I dunno...guess if it gets worse i'll go to the dct. but i've really lost faith in the medical feild lately, lol

Have you ever had experiences with carpal tunnel?? I haven't really heard of leg problems with it. But my mom suffers from it and the tingling and numbness in the arms and hands sound like that. I don't know much about it, only time I had problems with it was when i was pregnant with my first child. It was horrible!!! I think it is caused by build up of fluid, but that may be something you could look into...
