Anyone else have this problem?

Hi, I'm 32, 5'3" and weigh 163lbs.
I never had a weight problem as a child or a young adult. I was skinny. I've been gaining weight steadily ever since about the age of 21. I went from 115lbs to 163lbs. This is the most I've ever weighed and I can feel the toll that it's taking on my body. I'm short and have a small body frame. My feet hurt from the burden of this extra weight. For ten years I've been dieting and losing weight on and off. The most I can ever lose is about 5 pounds. My body just shuts off and won't lose anymore weight after a certain point. I don't lose weight fast or easily. My body fights hard to hold on to it. I've tried everything from not eating much to eating smaller meals more frequently. I've been exercising 3 or 4 times a week since last August. Nothing I try works.
Before the holidays I weighed 150lbs. Now I'm at 163lbs. About a week ago I started eating more fruits and vegetables and replaced my bad snacks with good ones. I was at 160lbs at this point. What do I get for being good? I decide to check the scale after a week, and no I haven't lost, but I've gained 3lbs!!! What the hell!!! How discouraging is this??!!!!
I can't take this anymore! I want to just give up but I'm afraid that if I do I'll balloon to 200lbs. Why won't my body let go of this fat???

HI!

What's your workout schedule like and what kind of things are you eating. If you list those most on here most will be able to help.:)

It sounds like maybe you've relied too much on dieting? I'm not sure, since you did mention you worked out....but it all depends on how you ate when you started working out, if you adjusted your calorie intake, what type of calories you were taking in etc.

Exercise is just as important as what you eat, the RIGHT exercise at the RIGHT intensity, a good amount a week.

;)

are you keeping track of what you eat I try and eat better foods for me and I try and keep it to only 1200 calories and 30 grams of fat a day , But I am looking into weight watchers for a more better way of dealing with my foods maybe you should look into that too , But first of all try righting down everything that goes into your mouth and see what kind of habits you have right now , and come back and let us know I just know there is someone here that can help you ! Hope made a little bit of since LOL

Hang in there, it's not easy but you need to get a handle on it before it's too late. Just because you are eating fruits and veggies doesn't mean the weight is going to come off especially if you are eating too much of the fruit. You might want to check out the book by Bob Greene (Oprah's trainer) the body makeover one he gives a lot of good advice on weight loss and fitness, I have kept that book as a guide and what he says makes sense and the success stories in there are truly inspiring. I have had a weight problem for 16 years and never did I think exercise was the key but you know what? It is, it's not meant to be easy or comfortable for that matter, you have to do it and you have to challenge yourself each and everytime and if you do this and reduce your daily caloric intake you will definetly see results. Please don't starve yourself either because that will only slow your metabolism down. Buy or borrow the book you will learn alot.

The interesting thing about weight loss in that when we starve ourselves, we would lose. Eating light sensible meals works the best to keep the metabolism working. With a good exercise program to help. Think about how you approach each day, you can create that day. When you get up and your showering, rushing teeth, combing hair, be on the move, back and forth, dance. When you cook some breakfast, go to the fridge and only get one item at a time. When you head to the store to buy groceries, have a specific list of health items, and only get those items. When I shop, I have tunnel vision and head right for the veggies and stay away from the bread and donut areas. I also park way out in the parking lot and have a good walk in and out. You will be amazed at what these extra steps can do for you. Think outside the box, how can you create exercise in your day and have a support partner is one of the best ways to stay on track. Remember, its the little day to day steps that will become your greatest success. Scott Coaching for the success of others.
