Today's wish...

One day, maybe one day.....I'll be in fabulous shape and WANT to go to the beach...ahhh....

I've avoided the beach all summer and it's so sad because I love the ocean so...and my daughter does too. I HAVE to take her this weekend, it's the last weekend before school starts and she's dying to get there. *sigh* I'm sooo not looking forward to this, but I owe her...so I must.

^ You're 140 pounds and you're avoiding the beach? In my book, you're a skinny minny...now get your behind out there and enjoy the beach and your skinny body.

Thanks for the encouraging words Kaitie...I'm going, but I'm not gonna like it. :( :)

I'm getting better. In the last couple of years, I've managed to just wear shorts over my bathing suit, and shed the big t-shirt. But it takes a lot of effort on my part.

love the beach, used to live in new brunswick on the bay de chaleur.

the atlantic was literally my backyard. check out this pic.

Nice!

I don't live anywhere near the ocean, but on a gorgeous lake....so I'd love to be able to take the kids every day without being ashamed. One of my goals:)

Well i never lived by an ocean (never even seen one). I live in minnesota the land of 10,000 lakes so we have plenty of those. But, my parents have a pool in their backyard so i never have to be seen by the public. Super nice!

Man i would love to have a pool in my back garden.... then i wouldn't have an excuse to be lazy about exercising. Id be able to swim everymorning or evening.

I went on holiday in spain with some friends of mine... they had a pool in their garden. I spent every single day there doing at least 20 lengths. My friends thought i was mad.. until we got home and they realised they had put on about 4lbs each and id only put on 2! :D

I personally hate the beach because the feel of sand on my feet just creeps me out... but... I'm going to say this as nicely as possible...

You people need to get over yourselves pretty quickly... If you wait til you are .... whatever... to do things -- you might never do them-- enjoy your life now - no matter what body you are in.

Have you been to a beach lately? It's NOT baywatch hard bodies... It's real people with real bodies and real cellulite.. and you know what? they are there to have fun- they don't give a rats patooty about what you look like in fact they probably don't even notice you at all (for the attention whores out there,. i'm sorry.. :D)

Go to the beach- enjoy it... have fun...

haha yes, those are wonderful words. And if you think long and hard about them it might make it easier to just take the plunge, so to speak. \\

:)

hey maleficent why dont you post a pic of you at the beach ?
hehehe....not trying to start nothing...and your right people do need to live their lives...

but...(theres always a but)

things dont work that way. everyone has an ego (do mushrooms and evaporate it but it will come back).

i do go to the beach and dont mind pulling out my fat body and enjoy myself, but i can see how it would be hard for some people because if you are fat and rolly polly like, people will start and point and talk and for some thats just more BS they already dont need. your right, you only can live this life for yourself, but weight loss is as much a mind game as it is a physical one.

I went to the beach all the time this summer and only went into the water maybe 3 times, i don't feel like scaring people, so i'll just wait until i look good enough to get into a two piece.

Ever go to a nude beach? Trust me when I tell you the people on the nude beaches are NOT bodies you'd find on the porn sites. They are middled aged, saggy flabby people, who are comfortable with their bodies. PEOPLE DON"T LAUGH AND POINT.. If a person does laugh and point then that person needs to grow the (expeletive deleted but it's really needed because I feel so strongly about it) up... and pronto.

People will laugh and point anywhere you go... you can listen and keep yourself inside your 4 walls for the rest of your life or you can ignore it -and have th eonly person's opinion that matters is your own and go on with your life.

Post a picture? Sorry -not on the internet - never gonna happen...

I was a bit of a beach-o-phobe until I took my younger cousin there this summer. I'm not scared of it anymore. With the stupid new fad of wearing bikini/tankini bottoms super-low, even super skinny girls look fat. The only women I've seen to pull that style off have hips like pre-pubescent girls (or teenage boys--LOL). Oh, well. I guess it's a nice equalizer when everyone has a muffin-top. :D

I understand what you're saying Mal and for me it's not about what other people think..I could honestly care less. It's about my level of comfort. I want to feel comfortable in my skin (...and my suit) and not be self-conscious about my thighs. My lower body is my problem, which I can very easily disguise with pants and skirts. It's the way my weight is distributed and not so much my weight overall that's my problem...and since I can't target I have to loose overall.

I'm going and I'll HAVE to get in the water....with a 7 year old I have no other option, but I will be self-conscious about my thighs (which are much larger than the rest of me...but 2 inches smaller than they were before April) the entire time, which will make the experience not as much fun for me. However, I'll deal with it to make my daughter happy.

if we all had as much confidence as you mal...half of us wouldn't be here. where can i get me some of that?
