Any ideas on how too improvemy workout? please and thank you

Hi everyone. I have just introduced myself in the newbie section and thought I might as well throw myself in here and get some advise. Im a little nervous about the response I may get but I will give it a go.

I have recently went from 79kgs down too 59kgs after being diagnosed with cervical cancer. Dont stress, I have been cleared and have been given the go ahead to live a normal life cancer free. That was certainly a wake up call for me and am now wanting to get fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Being a mother of 2 children aged 5 and 4 I dont get too go too the gym so I do my best to keep in shape at home.
I have recently purchased the Cardio Twister which I know alot of people will tell me not too waste my time on it but I have been enjoying a 25 minute workout on it every (most) afternoons. I also walk with my 4 year old son too collect my daughter from school every afternoon and find I am getting results from both these together.
The Cardio Twister is my interesting one as I dont use it standing upright. I bend my legs so Im in a squatting position and have the resistance turned up so I feel like Im heading up stairs. I also hold the handle with one hand while in the other hand I hold a tin of some sort from the food cupboard and use it as a weight and lower my arm up and down with each step of the Twister. (I hope everyone understands my awkward workout as I have done my best too explain how I workout)

I would love too hear from anyone else who has used the Cardio Twister and would love to learn some new workout routines you use or used.

Does anyone have and ideas on how I can improve my workouts or do more or less too get into shape. I dont want too lose weight please. I am mainly wanting too tone up and become more lean looking if you know what I mean. After my weight loss I have found I have a bit of sagging and lose skin. not alot but would love to tone it as much as I can.

Thank you.
Naomi

Hi Naomi,
Listen, if you like the cardio twister and it works for you, don't let anyone talk you out of it! that I have used extensively (Son's a marine). At first you will most likely not be able to do the number of repetitions, so just do as many as you can. The idea behind it is to build stength AND cardio, so keep moving, your goal is to get done in fifteen minutes
One more thing: work out in front of your children (or let them join in!), it will impact them the rest of their lives!
Good luck!

I really like your confidence. It’s appreciable. Don’t worry about your lose skin. It would take certain amount of time. Try to avoid fatty food and add lots of vegetables fruit and salad in your daily diet.
Don’t worry about what others are saying. There are lots of cardio exercises. I recommend choosing any one you enjoy most. There are also others form of cardio exercise.

I would like to give a chart so that it would be easy for you to understand that which cardio you should choose for yourself:

• Running: a 145-lb person can burn 300 calories by running at 5.2 mph for 30 minutes.

• Bicycling: By using the power of your legs, you increase endurance while burning lots of calories, anywhere from 250-500 in 30 minutes, depending on how fast you go and how high your resistance is.

• Elliptical trainer: A 145-lb person burns about 300 calories in 30 minutes.

• Swimming: If you spend 30 minutes doing the breastroke and you'll burn almost 400 calories.

• Walking: if you work hard at it, a 145-lb person can burn about 180 calories in 30 minutes.

• Jumping rope: A 145-lb person can burn a whopping 330 calories with a 30-minute workout, but you'll want to slowly work your way up to that.

Just mix it up a little bit your daily routine by different types of cardio exercises. And don’t forget to ask help to others members of your family. You need this lovely support in the long run.
