Any hourglasses out there?

Hi!
I'm new to all this forum stuff so I hope this is an appropriate place to be posting my thoughts. Anyway...
I'm 5'5", 24 years old, starting weight in Jan 2011 was 194 lbs, now 173 lbs and hopefully on the way to 140-50. The thing is, in my memory I've never been that light and I'm a bit nervous about how I'll look at that weight! I'm a lucky girl in that I'm a perfect hourglass - starting measurements were 45"-34"-45", now down to 41"-30"-41" , so far so good. But I was wondering whether there are any other hourglass women out there with any experience of how their shape changed? I love my shape, but it just needs shrinking/toning a bit, I don't want to lose my curves and be straight up and down! Also curious about whether 140-150 is a sensible goal because I tend to look lighter than I am because my weight is distributed flatteringly/evenly - I don't want to look scrawny! Incidentally, My weight loss has been super healthy and steady, through rounded diet and lots of varied cardio/resistance exercise.
Thanks for reading!
xx

well I am also curvey rather than straight. Currently 180 pounds and 40- 33 - 41 so not dissimilar to you.

I also love my curves, I am 5th 10 and the smallest I have been down to is about 148. I know from experience i will lose weight quicker from my bust than my hips but overall yes I will stay curvy!!

Worth pointing out that being 148 did not suit me as my hip bones really stuck out!! I dont like losing so much of my boobs, but sadly not much choice. Guess it depends on your frame as to what suits you!! My recommendation see how you feel/look every half a stone and see when YOUR happy, not when your where person x or y says you should be!!

Hi Miss Charlie, well thanks for your input, that's good to know. I know what you mean about boobs shrinking first - in the first few weeks mine did too, but then my hips caught up and I think I've reached an equilibrium where everything is shrinking steadily and evenly now (touch wood...), with the exception, perhaps, of my thighs, which are in my opinion huge! I won't deny I can see a difference, the exercise is helping, but I think that's going to be the most difficult area. It's OK though, no rush - and I've started jogging which can only help! I'm sure at 5'10" you would have been very slim at only 148 lbs! I expect you agree that the biggest problem with having a low hip-waist ratio is finding clothes that really fit! I find this totally impossible. It's either fitted at the waist and small everywhere else, or fitted on the hips and bust and unflatteringly baggy on the waist - and if it doesn't fit properly on the waist I swear it makes me look about 2 stone heavier...

A few years ago I lost 30 kilos and my shape didn't change, I still had the boobs and the bum, although a little smaller :) I guess I'm lucky that I lose weight in proportion.

I completely agree!!! I tend to find trousers a nightmare, for work I wear knee length skirts a lot, for some reason formal skirts are quite often fairly shapely. I also always really struggled with tops with no give like shirts as to fit my bust I have to buy them so big they swamp my middle and as you say make me look bigger.

I do worry at the minute that the weight on my hips don't seem to be shrinking, even though last time I was smaller they did I am still scared my boobs will keep shrinking and not them!! Lol.

I weigh in once a week but I try not to measure too often!! My next measurement is a week on Monday so it'll be interesting to see where they come out!!

@ ausdeb - that bodes well for me then, thanks for sharing!

@ misscharlie - yep trousers are always a huge hassle for me too, i also tend to stick to knee length/mid length/long skirts! I can rock a pencil skirt...but shirts are a difficulty too. :( good luck with your next measurements - i hope things keep moving in the right direction! xx

Throwing my 2 cents in. I was an hourglass for many years of my life. Fav being around 34/26/36 (so close enough to an hourglass). I stayed pretty close to the same ratio until I gained waaaaaay too much weight.....my hips/rear took off! I know as I lose the weight, my hourglass will come back.

I think you will get what you are expecting - a smaller version of your current self. Best of luck finishing your journey.

I think everyone is different and everyone loses weight differently. I was curvy before I gained weight, but now that I've lost I'm smaller on the bottom half and bigger on the top. I was hoping to lose more boobage, but no such luck.

I have albums of my progress pictures under my user profile if you want to look to see what my results look like.
