Hi there everybody! My name is Dee. I am a 21 year old university student. When I started university in 2003, I was in good shape, but since then I have gained about 20 lbs and need to get it off. I just happened to come across this forum and decided to check it out. I very badly want to lose weight and thought this would be a nice place to get some support. I'm very adamant about loving oneself and being kind to the body, so I'm trying to set some realistic goals for myself. I am currently aiming to lose about 3-5lbs per month by diet modification and exercise.
I'm not terribly active, but I do walk everyday and work out at home or at the gym several times a month. I'm not an overeater. I'm a bit of a junk food person, which has only come about in the past 2 years. In addition, I've been with my boyfriend for over 3 years and since we've been together, I've developed his eating habits. I eat faster than I did before and I eat larger portions. But I think my biggest problem is that I enjoy social eating. I love to go out to restaurants with friends, and after blowing $20-$30 on a meal, I can't bear to let anything on my plate go to waste. lol All these things combined have led to the dreaded 20lb weight gain that I've experienced.
On the bright side, I recognize each of these things as being modifiable. With some encouragement and advice from all of you I hope to make this work! I also hope I can be of some help to each of you. Good luck!
