Hi everyone, or as we say here in NZ, Kia Ora!

I have been browsing sites about weight loss programs i.e. Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, SureSlim, and then just googled "weight loss forums" and came across this site.
The programmes are a bit too expensive for me I must say.

Anyway, I'm 22 years old and about 5 ft 5 inches. I weigh probably around 88 kg. Looking to get a bit fitter and eat healthy. I'm not sure what's stopping me from doing it...

Well, hopefully reading everyone's stories will be helpful, and that I can write some of my own stories to help others too.

Cheers,
Jen a.k.a Puppies

Welcome to the forum.

No need to spend a lot of money here.
The main method that most of us to lose weight includes the following (which may be as cheap or cheaper than how you have been living when gaining weight):
- become more active which can be as simple as going out for a walk every day (that's what I did).
- drink lots of water (lots of people do not drink enough water)
- try to cook food in a healthy way (bake or grill, don't deep fry, use oil spray like fry light, try to pick low cal sauces)
- try to use low cal alternatives (sweetener instead of sugar, skimmed milk, low fat or fat free yoghurt etc)
- fill up on lots of fruit and veg
- opt for lean protein where possible

These are the basics - but you can adopt more healthy habits as you go along - like learning about portion control and maybe logging things / counting calories to really help things along...

I suggest that you read the following thread - it may help you settle in and make friends

Good luck with your project.
