Hello everyone,
I've been here a few times already but had yet to make an intro post...
As background, I was very thin in high school and always wanted to gain weight. Then I went off for college and I found a solution - beer and pizza (good times - paying for it now though!). My goal for the past couple of years has been to lose the gut (I'm 6'0, 180lbs but have a 37-38" waistline which probably should be around 34 I think). Luckily my wife takes diet seriously (which means I do too wether I want to or not) so I've maintained my size for the past 5-6 years despite a big drop in exercise.
My problem so far has been commitment. I bought a treadmill a couple of years ago and use it in cycles (i.e. 3 times a week for just over a month - not at all for 3 months). I also got a great deal on a universal gym (Parabody) not too long ago but have been finding excuses not to use it as well.
I knew I needed some structure and wasn't doing very well on my own so in September I signed up for Kung Fu (1 hour, twice a week) and so far it's been great! The first half hour (in our class anyway) is all warmup and it's really whipping me in shape.
The reason I came to this forum was to learn about weights and cardio. My biggest obstacle/excuse is definately time, so I'll be looking into ways to do weight training and cardio in short sessions (the HIIT section has already caught my attention).
Thanks for reading!
