Another lost soul in need of a little guidance...

Hi there :)

Have finally plucked up the courage to join and speak up. I've spent countless weeks looking here, there and everywhere on the net about effective ways to lose weight, but the more I read the more confused and frustrated I become.

I'll be honest, at 5'5" and 119lbs it's not so much weight that I want to lose but more body fat. I'm tired of being told that I'm fine as I am, just because I'm a healthy weight. There's a little pinch-inch bit around my middle (unfortunately exaggerated by a bloating issue) and the tops of my legs and butt just aren't what they used to be! Little niggles, you know?

I just don't know where to start! Diet, exercise, the works. I'm not looking for someone to conjure up a miracle food and exercise plan for me - just some nudges in the right direction would be awesome.

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum

What you are describing sounds like you may not be as toned as you would like to be.

Exercise of any kind will help.

Think out of the box, what will suit your life style and your interest.

Dance, martial arts, yoga, join a gym, home fitness....exercise comes in many forms.

You know your body best~ bloating is caused by many things..the combinations of certain foods, irritable bowel issues etc.

You may know what is triggering your issue.

Hang in there,

there are many great people here who may be able to relate to you.

Thanks Louise! Yes, I think toning is the biggest issue but do I need to change my diet to lose that little fat before I begin? Low carb, low fat, or just limit my calorie intake?

See, my problem is I have roughly 6 weeks to achieve a body I'm remotely comfortable with. I'm not expecting miracles but I don't know how to use my exercise time effectively. I go to the gym 3 times a week and I have Your Shape: Fitness Evolved on Xbox Kinect which I tend to use every other day, at the very least.

I'm sorry if these are all newbie FAQs, or if I'm posting in the wrong section, etc etc. Just don't know where to start! But thanks ever so much for your support. I look forward to learning a lot from WLF members!

Hello,

If you have six weeks to make an improvement, I guess you have no time to waist!

Since you already appear to be in a routine of working out~ great~..increase the intensity!

Note,~ not time if you do not have any, but intensity..

It looks like you are thinking on the right track as far as food is concerned.

Sit down and really look at what you consume in a day, what, when, why, and how much.

If you only have six weeks, I'd just seriously cut back with all the 'empty' calories...

Eat to nourish your body, not necessarily your taste buds.I think when we have a serious look at our diet, we can usually come up with what makes us gain weight...

Good luck, it hope this helps some.

Louise
