Anke Says: Just Do It!

Hello!

I am Anke, and here are my stats to start off with.

Starting weight: 208.1
Current weight: 195.8
Goal weight: 165
Height: 5"8

I live in South Africa, and have always had problems with food, as I learnt to deal with my emotions through food. I have now taken a step towards creating the life I want to live, and I feel great!

Occasionally I feel the urge to binge, but slowly it's going away, as I find less need for it... therefore I am dealing with my emotions in healthier ways now. I started belly dancing to stay active, and it rocks!

I have never gotten this far before in my goals to do with weight, but now it is changing. I think it's because one day I thought to myself.... "Why can't I be where I want to be? I have control over it, don't I?"

This led to the inevitable conclusion of

JUST DO IT!

i wish i could conquer my binge-eating problems... im just happy that ive stuck to my workout plan for two days in a row...thats an accomplishment... but only thing is i normally quit on the third day but i wont let it happen this time!!!

are you doing belly dancing classes or videos?!? good luck!!!
 
Well... erm, the binge eating not quite controlled yet. Plus I do something really bad, maybe every 3rd week or so when I binge babdly, I purge (throw up) that food.

I KNOW this is the main symptom of Bulimia, and I refuse to fall into the trap. This is why I need to control my binges, and if there is something yummy to eat, I need to have a little bit so I don't feel deprived and binge later.

Anyway. Yeah, I'm going to belly dancing classes. I stepped it up to 2 classes a week after I'd done it only twice because I enjoy it so much. I have researched a lot about the videos, and it seems there are a few worthwile ones out there. If you're interested I could go find the reviews of the best ones and post them here when I've got time.

i wont lie... i have a problem with binging and purging too... its only mild... like i dont have to do it everyday... its only occasionally...
 
Ye, I'd think of mine as mild too...

Anyway, I'm going to dancing today. And then I'm going to this Rasta place called Tings 'n Times... to watch some live hippie rock, woohoo!!!

I too had that problem, binge purge etc
Just do what Anke is doing ..treat yourself a little and try not to purge because it is very dangerous .. I was anorexic too if either of you want to talk ever ..it can be very emotional

but thanks Anke for stopping into my diary .. I appreciate a new individual .. I have always wanted to go to dance classes .. I plan to do it when I can find someone that will be my partner .. I figure after I graduate my treat for myself could be doing classes and of course the travel too

i would love to try belly dancing but i have never had the guts! Im so jealous :D:D:D Is it difficult? Sounds like a fun way to exercise (sure beats the treadmill!)

It's totally not about guts, seriously. It's a bunch of women, all shyly coming together to learn a beautiful and awesome dance. And ye, it's definitely the most fun I've ever had at exercising.

But on another note, I am going to sign up for a 10km run in October, so I am starting my training today, wish me luck!!! See u all around!
 
The belly dancing sounds lots of fun - and great exercise too.

A few of us were talking on the forum a couple of weeks ago and we decided that we found it easier not to binge but keep a control of our food if we had lots of good carbohydrates. I have been doing really well by having a reasonable amount of cereal.
 
Yeah, I really am sad to see how practically no carbs and only about 1/4 to 1/2 of daily required kilojoules is used by so many people on this forum as "the formula".

All for carbs, yay!! (unrefined that is :)

I went to the gym for the first time in ages yesterday! So proud! Going again today, I'm on a roll!
 
for a while i was snacking on about 400 calories worth of cereal between breakfast and lunch and i agree i felt pretty full all throughout the day...
 
Hey hey!

Well went to gym last night... fumbled around a bit with gym equipment, but at least got a feel for what my next workout will be like :)

I went to my weekly weigh in last night and lost 1.3 pounds... proudness!! Even after my birthday weekend! Will be doing another running session this evening, hopefully I can fit it in before my boyfriend gets to my place.

Speaking of fitting in exercise, what a juggle! And I don't even have my own house and kids.... I went from weigh in to gym to belly dancing last night, all in heavy traffic. I made it all on time, a miracle I swear. I usually ride my scooter around, but yesterday it was pouring so UI had to borrow my mom's car. It sucks coz I can cut past traffic with the scooter :)

Aaanyway, another day, another challenge, woohoo!

You seem to be doing great! Wicked awesome! Fitting in running and dancing, keep trecking girl! Before you know it you will have lost your first goal weight!

Well the rest of last week went beautifully exercise wise. I eventually did another run, plus a full body weight workout on the Thursday, plus one more run on Sunday. I'm counting the Sunday one as Week 1's first run again, as last week wasn't too consistent.

My energy has practically doubled since the exercise! And I lost another 1.4 pounds at my weigh in last night. I've signed up for like 4 challenges on the forum, hopefully I can keep up, hehe. But that should keep me motivated!

Well, my diet clubs leader set this as my goal weight. It's more of a "see how it looks and how I feel when I get there". When I was last at that weight, I did some modelling (I was still considered larger than other models).

I may go down to a minimum of 130 pounds, depending on all the above and on muscle mass. I am really enjoying weight training, so I rate I wanna get all toned and athletic looking!
