Amount of exercise

I go to the gym Mon-Thurs for an hour, but it's friday now and I haven't gone and feel guilty but I work friday evenings for 5 hours in which I am almost constantly walking around - do you think 4 hours a week + alot of walking is enough exercise to lose weight? I know it involves calorie intake and stuff, but roughly.

I work a job where I'm on my feet walking around for 8 hours everday. Unfortunately, I've never lost any weight without exercising.

If you've already exercised for 4 days, I don't feel that one day would totally erase the work you've already put in. Just keep your eating in check and you'll be okay, I think.

This would be a good time to do a little stretching and deep breathing while you work.

I know some people who use a stability ball at their desk in order to work the core muscles and keep in the abs while they work.

The above post is right - be mindful of your eating as well.

Don't feel guilty. You work out 4 days a week and that's good.

I Take The Weekends Off...

I take the weekends off as far as exercising goes. On Saturday I am very active doing "honey-do's" around the house and shopping... much more active then my weekdays at my desk job. Then on Sundays I am really chilled out and may even take a nap after church.

Also, when I take the weekend off I find that when Monday morning comes I am really pumped about going to the gym to work out.

i think it's awesome you take time to rest and i love the phrase "honey-dos" that's too great!

More power to those that go everyday and whatnot.

I have school all day on Mon/Wed and Work all day on Tues/Thurs

I am so tired after every day that I never make it to the gym. I do try to run though 2 times a week

wow, poor you??

sorry to sound like i dont understand your situation - but i work monday to friday - full days 8.30 till 5.30. I goto the gym at 6.15, stay for an hour or so.. and then come home and eat what i have to so i stay in good shape - then i get a hour or 2 to myself before starting another day!

I have wed off from the gym and also weekends. So its VERY possible to get he gym 4 days a week easily - 5 if your stupid enough... that brings me to my point anyway for you Jaysm2.

You reakky should look at doing no more than 2 days in a row of training. If your doing things correct in the gym - you NEED that day off before you go at it again for another 3 days at the gym.

Not many people can benefit from going to the gym 5 days a week - unless on steroids - and im sure you are not

I keep my fat low and muscle size as big as possible by doing a good routine and keeping my deit in check - i never do cardio as my deit is so good - very easy for anyone to manage to be honest.

My rountine looks something like this at the mo:

Day1:pull total body; things like deads, rows, chins. On this day run reps around 8-10
Day2:push total Body; thins like bench, squats, oh presses, etc. On this day run reps around 4-6
Day3: off
Day4:pull total body. Reps 4-6
Day5:push total body. reps 8-10

day 1 is monday for me.

If you can go to the gym for an hour, i'd say only do resistance training for 40 - 45 mins and the remainder a form of cardio.

as for feeling guilty -you do 4 days at the gym dude, feel pround of that.. if you CANT change your days and you have to have fri, sat and sun off, then just eat right to make sure you dont put any fat on easily - if you dont feed your body fat 0 you wont GET fat - simple hey :)

Also carbs come into it too - just make sure you keep them moderate to low and stick with a high protein diet ;)

Work out BEFORE school/work then.

Yep... or make sure your eating right. A good healthy balanced diet will ensure you're not feeling tired after work/school. Like I said, I goto work 8.30 - 5.30 Monday - Friday and I NEVER have a problem as I have a good deit.. very easy to do too...
