Am I Working Hard Enough?

I have been reading through old posts about how people feel sore and stiff the day after their workouts, and people experiencing stretch marks and many things like this.

I experience none of this. I work to the point of failure (or at least what i think is failure) and feel it after the workout, but after a couple of hours i no longer feel any pain or soreness. I've also never experienced any stretch marks or anything.

My question is, does this mean that i'm not working myself hard enough?

stretchmarks are just a sign of rapid growth... measuring your bf%, weight, and strength numbers is the best way to assure everything you're doing is putting you closer to your goal.

How long have you been working out for? How consistant is your workout (M,W,F?)

I ask because, i've been working out with weights for only 3 weeks and I experience none of these either, but with only 3 weeks under my belt, I don't expect to.

I've been working out heavily for about the last 4 months or so. For probably the first 2 months, I was just doing full-body workouts every other day without really knowing what i was doing that much, but for the last 2 months I've been doing a push/pull/rest/push/pull/rest...etc. split hitting the muscles as hard as i can with good form and nutrition (thanks to this forum)...

no need

soreness isnt a sign of a good work out, its a sign of exhausting the muscles and a lactic acid burn, its like saying dry eyes means u have a cold, it may sometimes come with a cold but its not a tell tale sign of a cold

always working out to exhaustion isnt a great idea either, it doesn't necassarily mean its a good work out.

you could lift ur 70% max on the bench for 3 sets of 10 reps and feel a little tired...or you could bench press 5% you max bench until exhaustion (probably a half hour)...obviously the 70% 3X10 is the better way to go

working hard is great, but working hard and working smart is wonderful

i'd set realistic goals and try to reach them, this is how u should scale if you are working hard enough

This is good news. I've been increasing my workouts past the recommended 45 minutes and piling on exercises because I often feel refreshed an hour or two later, and don't always feel sore the next day; I'm glad I read this before things got out of hand.
