Am i going in the right direction....

Hey people, my names Dan and im 19.

I stopped playing sport about 2 years ago and since then i put on around 24lbs, i weigh 16 stone. I started the gym just after the new year. I first started going 3 times a week but enjoyed it so i increased it to 5 times a week. In a week and a half i lost 7lbs but im at a stand still so i started measuring my chest, stomach and upper arms just to see if thats working. In the space of 2 weeks i lost an inch off my stomach and chest and gained half an inch on my upper arms.

My question is; Am i making the most of my time at the gym?

My current workout each week is;
Day1: cardio - treadmill 45 mins/ cross trainer 25 mins
Day2: weights - shoulders and chest 1 hour total
Day3: cardio - treadmill 45 mins/ cross trainer 25 mins
Day4: weights - back and arms 1 hour total
Day5: cardio - treadmill 45 mins/ cross trainer 25 mins

Im happy to go and make my gym sessions longer to put more in. My not just trying to reduce my body fat but i also want to gain muscle so i know my weight wont go down as quick.

But i also want to know if its work using a supplement for wieghtloss such as Spirodex i think its called and/or some sort of protein shake with low calories to sustain my weight training.

Just like to add that my diet could be stricter but ive stopped eating snacks and replaced it with fruit and the food i do enjoy ive made healthier for a more enjoyable diet, but i struggle to stick to a strict diet.

If anyone has ANY advice i would be greatful.
