Almost in Despair

for sure if you got any questions, just ask...this is what I do on my down time between the gym and work, usually.

congrad and welcome. You've made the first step to getting back in control. This is a forum full of wonderful people that will gladly help with any questions so don't sweat it. If you have any diet questions just let us know. I would seriously try to loose the weight natually before i go under the knife but I'm not going to knock the bypass. because I have a dear friend that did it and has had wonderful results. Be warned, it's a serious surgery and one of the hardest recoveries you will ever undergo. I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing the after pics you will be posting. Take care dear!

Thanks! I'm finding that there are a LOT of wonderful people on here. It's great. My brother had it done about 5 years ago and he's had one medical problem after another. I want to try the natural way first. If I don't see much of an improvement after a year I'll consider surgery.

Thank you all so much. I can't believe how much information and encouragement I've received over the past couple of days. Everytime I come on here I read about successes and see the wonderful responses when someone is NOT so successful. I guess the theme I'm catching on this sight so far is, "Keep moving forward." No matter how bad it gets or how bad you mess up the key is to keep trying. I think I've found my home. :p

thats great! The best advice I can give right now is research and have an idea

you dont need to plan and fuss over it, it should be more of a habit than like a duty ya know

like the motto of my gym "commit to be fit"

Hello sweetie, welcome welcome! We are routing so hard for you, we just want you to get healthy and have some hope for the future so very badly. Are you on board for the long haul? Aren't you so worth it? If you say no then that's where you've got to start with this.

At any rate, you have so much on your plate dealing with your weight and the sad situation your parents have found themselves in. So very sorry to hear about that. It would be a huge load off of your mind if you knew with every pound lost you were one step closer to a healthy you.

As far as the exercise, I not being an expert but pretty well read and researched about weight loss, would think that you shouldn't worry too much about it right now if it hurts your legs. Do not waste your money on any cheap or even reasonably priced equipment because these structures are wobbly and cheap-feeling even on those in the low 100s, so not only are they not built well for thin people they will not be able to hold your weight. You must check the weight limits on these machines before buying, but with exercise equipment its always a case of you get what you pay for. I would suggest something really low impact just to get the blood flowing and the lungs more and more (building your cardiac conditioning/developing your heart muscle). Find some video that you can pop in after you've fed your parents that is low impact, such as beginners yoga maybe or something using the arms a lot, and marching, knee ups etc and other such motions rather than high impact (jumping etc). Just something to increase your heart rate without hurting you much or too grueling to turn you off to exercise.

Now what exactly is your eating plan? For starting, you can be very very flexible and do not need to count cals and all that complex stuff (as long as you start LEARNING about calorie content) as almost ANY cut in calories should get the weight moving off.

Best piece of advice is to keep coming here, even when you're f**king up royally and completely thrown in the towel. No one will judge you, but as you know, most Americans quit before we get our weight off, and we just don't want you to be in that statistic. Even maintenance takes a lot of effort so it is a life long struggle for most people to stay at a reasonable weight, but TOGETHER WE CAN DO THIS.

I hope to be on here throughout the weight loss process. I hope I'm worth it. I'm also hoping it's not too late.

I'm just figuring out how much I put into my body right now and how to adjust my calorie intake to about half of my BMR which is 3,500 calories. I'm slowly incorporating healthier choices and getting away from processed foods as much as possible. One step at a time.

OOPS!!! well at least i wasnt the only one thinking it! lol Sorry bro! BTW where i am from just as many women have a goatee as men so i don't know if that will help lol. I personally think when i started cutting out soda was when i strated noticing a decent drop. just remember if u slip up don't binge the rest of the day because u already messed up. Just write it off and pick back up where you started. I've found that setting mini goals to hit then rewarding myself with a meal is a great way to stay on track. I aim for 2-3 pounds a week. If i hit it i have a cheat meal. if not i have to wait till the following weekend. You just have to find a diet program that works for u. Any luck finding the floor pedals? I think i saw a decent priced set at Wal-mart not too long ago.
