Hey guys! =D I just joined the forum last night, so I haven't been lurking for any significant amount of time or anything.
I'm Ariel, but you can just call me Gryph. I'm sixteen going on six (some would say sixty at times!) and though I only just joined this forum, I've been on a path to alter my lifestyle permanently for the past year. I've lost 28 pounds this time last year--most of it was lost last summer and before Christmas, as over that time period of a year. I would constantly get on and off of diets. I really only paid attention to calories and not to how healthy the food I was eating actually was, but more recently I've actually realized that the changes I make need to be something I can go by the rest of my life, and not just a "diet".
I've got 22 pounds to go--my goal weight is 115, and I hope to be there by the start of school next year (I realize, however, that my body may decide it only wants to go to 120 or 125, which is okay...as long as most of it is muscle. c: ) I'll be going to Germany next summer with my German class, if all turns out as I hope it will, so I want to look good for my passport photos--I'm also holding off on my driver's license until I'm down to my goal weight. Sure, they're going to look terrible anyway, but maybe they'll look a little less terrible. xD; I'm also in NJROTC (I was just made supply officer for next year!) So yet another goal of mine is to actually look good in my uniform next year.
But anyway, Just like most everyone else, I think, I go by calorie-counting and exercise. I always try to go for at LEAST 1200 calories a day, but it's usually more around the 1300-1400 range. Generally, I just try not to exceed 1500 calories. I walk on the treadmill an hour a day--thirty minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have an hour of karate, which I've been taking for a little over three and a half years now. (Black belt!)
So, can't wait to meet you guys and talk to you on the forums! =D

make sure your calories don't go too low.
