Age and muscle size

Hi there!

I'm new to this forum and hope to get lots of advice from here :) Oh well... For an introduction, my name is Jonathan and I'm 16. I work out for about a year now and would like to know if the size of the muscles will grow as I also get older. As I'm still young, I would want to know if I will get bigger muscles as I grow, doing the same amount of workout that i do now. Thank's for the advice...

"Doing the same amount of workout that I do now" is an interesting statement. As you progress, you will (or should) ALWAYS be updating and changing your workouts. This means changing exercises, raising and lowering the amount of weight, changing your sets and reps, everything.

Now, I KNOW you were going to do this anyway... ;)

Anyhow, if you continue to challenge your muscles, I have read that the human body can add an inch of muscle mass per year to every bodypart worked... As the book said, "You may not be impressed with that, but consider that in five years of exercising, you can go from a 15" bicep to a 20" bicep!"

Well, I'll tell you how I've been working out...

I do it at home, using what I got in hand, some objects that can serve as weights. I work out the abs, the pectorals and also the arms, nothing else, since I don't need to work out the legs since I walk much. Either ways, training with home objects and not with genuine weights eliminates the oportunity to put more weight on my training. I use to workout 3 times a week, the first day the abs (more or less 8 exercises) pectorals (5 exercises) and arms/shoulders (2 exercises); the second day only a session of pectorals (push ups) and the third day pectorals (same as first day) and arms/shoulders (the same as first day).
How do you guys think I should vary my wprkout? I'm looking forward to post a picture of when I satrted and one from now for you to help me seeing how I'm going on... Thank's again for the advice!

Have you considered getting a membership to a gym? or perhaps asking the football coach if you could train with the team....for the free use of a gym..lol.

If you aren't into playing football, offer to be the water-boy (I did it back in 1983) and you get to use the gym with the football players.

Well heres the thing I dont really understand. I started working out about 3 months ago and my left bicep was 13 inches my right was 12 inches. I'n the past 3 months now my left is 15 1/4 and my right is 14. Thats alot more thien an inch a year is it because I have just started working out not 3 months ago in the gym?
