My wonderful OH asked me to marry him last week, since then ive cut down and lost 6lbs, we set a date for october 30th this year!!! Please help me lose 51 lbs in 4 months. I need to average out at 3lbs per week for this.

I know theres some experts on here, so please help me come up with a plan. I am totally prepared to put the work in, I have all the time in the world right now and I've never been more determined in my life, this wedding is my dream, hes my true love!

I have a treadmill. I'm guessing I should do high impact cardio, and cut my calories right down. I have to do this, I wont wear the wedding dress otherwise.

I just wanted to add; I know you're supposed to lose no more than 1-2lbs per week with a healthy balanced diet, I also know that you gain if you dont continue with the life change, but I'm not talking about completely starving myself.

why are you so focused on a specific number?

How many calories a day are oyu currently eating and what are you cutting back to?

1 percent a week is a reasonable expectation... and that requires a lot of consistent effort

Spend some time reading the stickied threads -you'll get a lot og good info that you really need

Thankyou so much for replying. I'm stuck on a number because I was very happy at that weight before. If I only got down by 30lbs but I looked liked I'd lost 50 because of muscle gain, then id be happy. I just want to look really good on the day, and feel comfortable too.

I'm 5'2" and I've not been counting calories this week, (im willing to do anything that wont hurt me tbh) id say I average around 1500. I do (did) zero exercise) I did lots of jogging lastnight.

Don't focus so much on a specific number - you might or might not get tehre again - check your measurements and work on those iinstead since that's what's going to factor into you gettig iinto that dress or not...

Losing fat is all about using more calories than you take in... 1500 is an ok amount... but I'd be as accurate as possible in portion sizes (weigh and measure waht you're eating - eyeballing sizes can cause you to overeat unintentionally)

What mal said. Also the jogging is great but it if you want optimal results, work in some resistance training as well.

I bet you have the dress already picked out, is that it? Google wedding dress exercises, and tone the areas that'll be most visible in the style you've chosen.

Congraulations and Good luck Laurensmummy!

You've got such a wonderful reason to lose that weight that you're already off to a great start. I can't give specific advice on losing 3lb per week but do suggest cutting out all drinks with calories - stick to water, black coffee and green tea.

Don't focus as much on the "51 pounds". That will end up driving you nuts and may end up hurting you if you don't reach that goal.

Instead, pick up some measuring tape and use that. Measure all the major parts of your body once a week, and mark down your findings. I find that doing this is better than scale-stepping every time I am in the bathroom. This way, I am focused more on my overall well being, like my energy level and confidence.

Congrats on your wedding and good luck! My hunny proposed to me over a year ago, and we're still putting it off! True procrastinators :)

First of all CONGRATIULATIONS!!! This is a wonderful reason to get rid of some extra chunk in the trunk! ;-)

I am new her too though, so but when I saw you wanted to loose 51 pounds too, that was what I was wanting to loose to.. Then I opened your thread and saw, that you are 5'2, just like me!!

Well, I can't really give you any advice, b%ut like all the others said, read the sticky notes in here.. Thats what I am doing, and they REALLY are good..

Maybe this site helps you too to keep track on your diet and exercising and such.. .. you can get a free account, it really does help!

Wish you the best of luck!

:hurray:

Four times four is 16 weeks into 50 about is around 3. You want to loose 3 pounds aweek. so ya you got that right...but thats not how it comes off.
I don't know anything about you, diet or how overwieght you are. The first five can literally fall off just by thinking about it. The second five to ten can take a couple months. So now you have lets say 2 months to loose 35 pounds.
4 pounds a week. Unless you are burning up 1000 more calories a day than you are taking in, and yes you will be starving unlesss you are eating all you want but are also competeing the the Tour Le France....I would be a little more realistic about your goal so as not to destroy yourself and your relationship...see my video on You tube.

A thousand-calorie-per-day deficit is actually going to get you more like 2 pounds a week, averaged over the long term. To average 3 pounds a week, one needs about a 1,500 calorie per day deficit.

Ya no kidding, I didn't want to just blow her out of the water. This is hard enough as it is. But ,then again the truth is so much more interesting. My bad.

No, not at all! I'm a "set your expectations low and be pleasantly surprised" person, so for me, expecting to lose 4 pounds a week on a 1k deficit would leave me miserable when I only lost 2. When I was losing, my little planning spreadsheet projected out my loss a little more slowly than I knew I ought to see if I stuck to my plan, and I found it very motivating to be half a pound or a pound lower than projection at the end of a month.
