Acne.

OK. Well, I have always had a little bit of acne, not bad, just a pimple here and there.

Well lately, since I started REALLY working out they've been going crazy. It's still nor really bad, but compaired to before, it's almost doubled.

I've talked to a professional about it, and he said it's due to more exersize, so I'm sweating a lot more.

It's really bothering me, because my mom is actually starting to think I'm using roids! A few people have said it as a joke, but now that I think about it, it doesn't seem like they were really joking.

I'm not a massive guy, but lately I've been getting a lot bigger.

Is there any way to stop acne? I take a shower each morning, and 1 after a big workout. I also use spectro jel.

Any tips?

Are you washing your face in the morning and before bed? Try a benzoyl peroxide or clindamycin after you wash your face dry it. Did you see a regular doc, or a dermatologist? They can easily prescribe creams (the ones i mentioned) and sometimes antibiotics.

Have you recently started taking ZMA or some zinc supplement? It happened to me but went away in a couple weeks. Like AJP said, see if your doctor can prescribe a wash like benzoyl peroxide (I've used it for a while) and maybe a topical cream. I would really try to avoid an antibiotic, especially if it's not very serious.. my dermatologist prescribed it for me and I took it for a year or so, and I started having a lot of stomach problems. Perhaps it's a coincidence and my beliefs are unfounded, but I'd still try topical creams and washes first.

i used to use proactive. it really does work, but may take 4-6 weeks to kick in and you have to use the 3 step system morning and night. other than that, you can try a dermatologist and have him write you a prescription for something topical.

Test levels natrually increase when you're lifting intensley.. If I take 2 weeks off I won't see 1 blemish, but IMO not worth it.

Topical creams are a good choice, if you're not trying one already.

I'll agree with this.

Proactive is a great product.

I guess it does vary by person because proactive did absolutely nothing for me, but see what works for you obviously

same here, i asked my doctor about it after i had tried it and he said that it works great for some and not at all for others, i guess it is worth a try if you havent tried it yet.

Yup, it does. I know some people who used it with no results.

Being someone who experienced years of bad skin I'd def reccomend trying Proactiv. It is good because it has salicylic acid and face wash has beads in it to exfoliate your skin. It also comes with a great sulfur-containing mask which I highly highly recommend using at night!!
If not you can get antibiotoics from your dermatologist....
I'd also wash your face and body after every workout to prevent breakouts on your back and chest....

I have acne, I tried proactive a few years ago and it worked great but when i tried it again a few months ago it made things worse for me. I just have really sensitive skin, most anything will break me out. Most people i know who use proactive it usually works for them.

However I solved or am trying to solve my problem by having checked out a book called "The Skin Type Solution". It really breaks down what type of skin you have, how to treat it right and what to treat it with. Since then i have reduced scaring and had very minimal outbreaks.

I concur

theleip recommends a good book.

Luckily as a youngster I had little acne problems, alot of it depends on the skin type you have.

Also, aren't you the kid that has to eat fast food several times a week? I bet that food is not helping your condition and making it far worse, the chemicals they put in those foods, well it turns my stomach thinking about it. I would really recommend the following...

hit the library and see if they have the bood Theleip recommends, Cut out the junk food, After working out, maybe a hour our later take a shower or such, actually sweating helps clean out the pores of your skin, so after the work out, give time to cool down, your body some time to absorb the sweat back, then take a shower. See a Dr. tell him your workout, eating style and see what they recommend, they are professionals, even ask your local pharmacist, they might have a good suggestion.

One thing I noticed unfortunatly alot of todays teenagers have bad acne, in my area at least, I am not sure if it is the food or something else, but I see more kids with bad acne then I see kids with healthy skin, not sure if it is diet or just some sort of freaky side effect to all the vaccines kids take these days.

Sorry If I am babbling, I would try altering the Diet, over the counter creams, and making sure you are taking a shower after your workouts and new clothes. Good luck I hope it clears up for you soon.

I tried every OTC product, and every anti-biotic and cream/gel my dermatologist could prescribe.
In the end I had to go on Accutane, when I was 20. wasn't very fun, and it was causing my blood lipid levels to skyrocket, so I only did 3/4's of the normal treatment.
But, it did the trick. I went from large, cystic acne which left scars and was very painful, to a more normal 'occasional zit' that lasted a few days and didn't hurt or scar afterwards.

exercise is supposed to balance ur hormones.....

anyways just use anything thats 2.5-5 percent benzoyl peroxide.. i can find that proactiv is just a commercial product but cheaper stuff at wal mart with bp works good

I was just reading on another board about supplementing with large amounts of Pantothenic Acid (vitamin b-5) (5g+ daily) and how it can tremendously help. I may give it a try if it's cost efficient.
