diet...exercise...diet...exercise...diet...exercise...diet...exercise...diet...exercise...diet...exercise...diet...exercise...diet...exercise...diet...exercise...diet...exercise...

hope thats in your head now :)
just lower your bodyfat and your abs will completly be shown.
usually around 10% bf they start bein visible for the average person...
so find out your bf% now .. and work hard to get to the % you need to get to.

Good Advice

In addition, make sure that the exercises you do are varied. too many people concentrate on crunches thinking that with diet, that alone will result in visible ab definition. It doesn't.

You need to work the whole core in a variety of ways including abs

I have to say that as my BF% has reduced and with using a stability ball for all my weights sessions which engages the abs at every stage, not only have I got a six pack for the first time in 20 years ( engage smug mode ) I no longer have any back problems and my posture is much improved

Slapsie

Lay down flat on the flor or mat,
then slowly lift your legs (and keep them straight).
In the begginnig you will have to bend them at knees a bit,
but later on try keeping them as straight as possible.

Works waaaaay better than any other exercise.
That's how I got my abs. Good luck.

The most important ingredients are diet and cardio. You probably already have a six pack, you just need it to 'pop'. Run, swim, play hoops, ride a bike, anything that gets your heart rate up for at least 20 minutes. Ab exercises are great for building a tighter more defined mid-section, but they wont make them any more visible than they are now. You gotta shed the fat bro.
So my answer would be cardio, diet, cardio, diet, cardio, diet.

Incorrect, They WILL make them more pronounced....

But diet and exercise are just as important. However, you will notice faster results with a hardcore ab routine.

Unless im not reading you right, I couldnt disagree more. With 2-6 pounds of fat on the stomache, all hes gonna do with an ab routine is push the fat out further. If you dont lose the fat you wont see results. An ab routine would be fine, as long as its done in conjunction with cardio and diet. Ab exercises are the last ingredient.

I have to agree with Johnny. Fat around the abs will hide them; but a well rounded abdominal/core exercise program will assist in the development and appearance of the abs.

The fat wont "push out further" if you're doing abs exercises the correct way. The goal is not to make them huge, it's to make them toned. Huge abs look like a gut; toned abs look like a chick-magnet.

I don't think you were being challenged as to your suggestion that fat covers abs and reduces definition.

What I was saying, and what I think Johnny was saying, is that abs need to be developed just like other body parts too. If you're fat, you're fat. You could be able to bench 350 but still look fat. If you're extremely slender and don't lift, you pecs will be visible but not developed.

And what exactly makes those two references in your thread "expert"? I could toss up a website; call myself an expert and say diets should consist of nothing but fried stuff with cheese and soda.

Some agree with me, some dont. Im not saying you shouldnt do ab workouts, just in my opinion, I dont think it should be the #1 priority.
I agree an ab workout will make your abs more pronounced, but not till the fat comes off.
Also, Im sorry I said "expert". What I should have said is, "a guy who has the abs you probably want, and obviously knows how to get them."
