Hello, my name is Matt and I am 16 years old, about 5'6", 135~ pounds.
I bought a Bowflex Elite last summer and have a few questions about weight training. I started last summer and put on about 15lbs of muscle since then, which isn't all that bad, but I'd like to increase this because I do train alot.
About a routine, I used to workout with the Bowflex Everyday, about 30 minutes a day...I thought since I did it everyday for more then 20 minutes and more then 3 times a week, I'd get better results (like in the commercial ad they reccommend 3 days a week for 6 weeks). But then I recently read that doing that is actually not good: you need to let your muscles relax. So here I am, about to start a new workout routine...I'm planning to do all my muscle groups every second day, so about 24 hours to let me muscles rest before putting them back to the test. Should I let them rest more then 24 hours? Also, I'm wondering if it is better to work out hard one muscle group a day, everyday, or every muscle group every two days? I get atleast 8 hours of sleep everynight, and eat moderatly healthy, I try to stay away from junk food and eat good healthy meals. I don't have much of a life, so I got all the time in the world to work out, but would like to get better results before the world ends
People have been telling me I've been getting toned but still...sometimes I look at myself, and then some of my friends, and just want to achieve more...you know how competition is
.
Thank you for taking your time to read my post and hopefully will provide an answer soon.
-Matt
EDIT: I lift around 140lbs on bench press/chest fly.
