Ab size question

Ok,

I've heard several different opinions on this.

I'm losing alot of weight 225 > 186 since mid January. I'm 5'5" so I've got more to go, but my stomach has defiantely begun to shrink. Dumb as it may sound, for right now, I could care how much I weigh as long as my stomach is flat (relatively) for me.

Now to the question:
Will doing ab workouts (crunches, situps) cause my stomach to bulge out? Or will it actually slim it down? Cause I would rather wait to do Abs stuff when my stomach is a little flatter if ab workouts would cause it to bulge out.

I know, its vanity, but swimming season is coming up. :p

No it wouldn't cause your mid section to buldge. Keep focus on your diet, and you'll get there. Oh, and please don't listen to the people who say to do 20+ reps in ANY ab exercise, it will not burn fat. Reach failure around 10.

I'll second that.

Abs are made visible by getting down to a low BF%. Diet/cardio/training and patience will result in visible abs.

I'd suggest trying to work a full range of ab exercises, not just sit ups. and make sure your working the whole of your mid-section. if you need help with this go to the 6pack post in the bodybuilding FAQ at the top of the bodybuilding forum.

The people who get ab bulges are the ones who are juicing up on steroids. It's a hormonal response more than anything, I think.

Best way to lose weight for the swim season is a good breezy full-body workout with plenty-o-cardio on a regular basis.
