Ab Question

For the past 4-5 months I have been working my abs. The front lower and upper abs are looking good but I just have a question about the sides. I was wondering if anyone knows any really good workouts for the torso, the part that indents down towards the crotch on both sides (if that makes any sense at all). Thanks

Well, I have been doing crunches, sit ups, bridge, bicycle, leg kickouts; pretty much everything. I work on them every other day and I can see the torso becoming defined but I really want to work on them a lot more. I was wondering if there were just workouts that solely work on them, that make them really stick out. Thanks

The best way to get that is to run alot their is not an excercise that targets that speical area but if you run 2 or more miles each and every day that should get that area more defined and also get your abs more noticable.

In a way I already do this. I play basketball for a high school team and play everyday, so I am very active. I am not sure whether or not 2 miles of just running would do the trick. What do you think Goldy? Thanks.

Running 2 or 3 miles every day? there is a lot more to losing fat just running a specific distance. Your success will be based upon the level of intensity and the time you spend maintaining a specific heart rate. Giving advice like run 2 or 3 miles every day doesn't really mean anything.

On top of this. I believe ryansplace is talking about the obliques.. The ones that run inwards towards your crotch :)
You CAN target these muscles with exercises like these:

First, there is no upper and lower abs. It's not sectioned, it's one long sheet of muscle.

Two, working it using crunches, planks, etc, works the whole thing. You may empahisize the CNS in a particular area, but the CNS isn't what makes it grow, it only makes it more active.

Well Sorry.... and Second; its [there are no upper and lower abs] not [there is no upper and lower abs.] Just thought I would correct you since you made it a point to try to sound smart and correct me. Thanks.

Cynic was only trying to help, not to sound smart by correcting you. Misinformation can lead to poor training and lack of results.

Everyone is here to help not to criticize.
