A Wall in Weightloss?

Is there like a wall when dieting? Like when you reach a certain weight, you just stop losing and can't seem to lose any more.

Also, I've been 110lbs for years now and it doesn't seem to change. It would change when I would really diet like when I starve, but when I eat again, goes back to 110.

Dunno, maybe I unconsciously eat the amount of calories needed to maintain that but it's a bit odd that it doesn't fluctuate or anything.

Could it be possible that my body has decided that 110 is the right weight for me and that it has to stay that way? What happens to fats if they're just stuck there for a long time never getting added to or lost? I can't let that happen! I WANT TO WEAR A DAMN BIKINI!

Sweetie, this post worries me. If you weigh 110 pounds and are wanting to lose weight there is something wrong (unless you happen to be under 5 feet tall). What is your BMI? What is your height and your goal weight? 110 lbs is quite small and to want to lose more weight doesn't sound healthy - at all.

I am 4'10". Dx I'm extremely short. My BMI is around 23 I think. GAH! >_<

Perhaps I should list that somewhere in my signature o.o

Oh! Ok, that makes a little more sense. Though even at 4'10" you aren't exactly over weight. Not sure why'd you want to lose weight when, according to the BMI charts you're perfect. :) But I guess that's a choice we all have to make. Just stay healthy, hon. I'd hate to see you get underweight, as that can be dangerous.

*hugs*

Thank you :3 But I'm hoping to get my BMI to 20. It's kind of cruel here because people DO make fun of my weight. College skinny kids. -sigh-

I hear you- college is a tough place to be. Super thin kids everywhere. Dx

And I don't think your goal is too low. BMI isn't even a good measure in the first place, but also since you are asian and short, it seems to overestimate even more, I've found, at least among my friends.

Anyway, I actually just wrote a long reply on your diary thing, so I won't reiterate my advice here. But good luck!!

Hanabi? I can't message you back anymore. The thing said I had to be 5 days old (in terms of membership) to send any more @_@ There goes my reply. But it was basically something like 'If they can do it, we can too.' Erm, asking you why you moved, I forgot the others ._.

As far as I know, just death.
Other than that, if you still have noticeable fat, you should be able to lose it.

I DO have noticeable fat v_v Fine. It's time to for meh exercise. Oh, which is better, exercising in a warm room or in a cold room? I do it in a warm room. I like sweating. But if the cold burns more calories, I'm willing to give up sweating o.o

I doubt the temperature of the room really changes how many calories you burn. Plus, if you are comfortable with the temp, you'll be more likely to work out harder and longer.

Temp really isn't going to affect you much one way or another. All cold air will do will make you cold when you sweat hard :p

The real key is to find something that you ACTUALLY like doing, otherwise exercise is near impossible to stick to. When I started, I ran on the treadmill every morning for 2 weeks. Figured I would eventually get used to it. Absolutley hated it. So I tweaked some things. Started going at night, which I much much much prefer. Also, started playing sports instead of staring at a damn clock for 30 minutes, which is also a lot better for me.

One last tip - find a buddy that you can count on to workout with. Having that accountability will keep both of you honest with your goals.

Good luck PQ!

If you like sweating (crazy, crazy person, lol) that's fine, but just remember to keep hydrated. Losing water weight isn't losing fat.

I think we do hit a wall, in a way. The less you weigh, the less you can eat while maintaining the same weight. The less fat you have stored up, the hungrier you get. This makes it difficult to lose weight beyond a certain point. Not impossible, but more difficult.

It does seem like it gets harder - one thing you can do is to stop looking as much at the weight/BMI and go for more muscle/less fat.

If you weigh 120 but have less fat than you do now you'll not only look skinnier than you do now, you'll also be able to eat more to maintain your weight. You might be better off trying to gain 5-10 lbs of muscle and then try to diet back down to 110 lbs. Just a thought!

Oh, I was wondering because my coach runs around campus in a thick jacket to sweat more. Maybe she just likes sweating too haha. But she's in varsity and seems to know what she's doing.

About the finding something I like to do, I actually like to write, but I doubt that would make me lose weight. Oh well. v_v

Yeah, I think that probably most people who do things like that to make themselves sweat more and doing it in order to lose more "weight," which is really just the water they're losing when they sweat, not actual body fat or anything. Not effective unless you're trying to make a weight class or something where what the scale says actually matters.
