A scale that doesn't tell you your weight?

So I was watching a show yesterday where entrepreneurs go and try to get money for their business (the canadian version - I don't want to spam or anthing :s), and these people were trying to market a scale-type thingy that doesn't tell you your weight. What it does is tell you how much you've lost since the last time you were on it. I guess they were saying there are some who get discouraged at seeing their weight (they said overweight women but I hate to generalize...) so this might actually work better. Apparently they are trying to market this to the Oprah-watching, The Secret-reading crowd.

Thoughts?

Do some of you find that not weighing yourselves to often is actually better, and that this type of product would help?

I guess I'm only asking because I am one of those people who DO want to know their weight (reality check!)...

Oh man. Well. I def. am the type of guy that likes to weigh myself daily. I don't know. I can see one major drawback from my opinionated point of view. I am very goal-oriented, and need to work, work, work towards an end result. I do very poorly with abstracts. If my boss tells me, "sell more" I don't do well. If we says, "increase revenue 10%" then I accell.

With a scale like that, I would do poorly, because I would only be getting 0.5 to 1 pound success stories daily if anything, rather than knowing what I weighed and getting excited to drop 5 pounds in a week or 2.

Now, if the scale had the ability to switch between ACTUAL weight, and this reduction that you are talking about I see the value, like a toggle switch. That would be pretty cool. :p

Totally agree with the first statement!! Most of the things I do have long-term payoffs, so I like to see the long-term results...

One of the investors on the show brought up the idea of a switch, but apparently, it then would lose some effectiveness... I dunno, I haven't read the Secret (apparently there is a link ?!)...

When I got on the scale 4 months ago and saw a big fat 225lbs I was really motivated to lose weight.

It's very easy to binge when you can be in denial about how big you are.

I am too afraid to see my weight! I would love a set of scales like this! I also think scales need to be checked every few months too as they lose their accuracy so this would concern me.

I used to have anorexia, I now don't. To me, every 1lb is too much for me to look at (you gain weight and your not anorexic, but it lives in your head forever) a set of scales like this would be a Godsend! For now I rely on medics to tell me if I am over/under weight and I don't know if I'd trust them to tell me if I am too fat!
