Planks are challenging. My physical therapist for a back injury told me to do them. When I first started I could barely hold it for 10 seconds! (yes, 10, my PT was a sadist and made me hold it that long even on the first tries) And I had to do 3 to 4 reps of this >_<
After a few months though, I was able to hold them for 30 seconds, and do 10 reps, and my back felt SO much better. Not only that but my tummy looked better! Sadly I stopped doing them once my back stopped aching.... I need to kick myself and go do them again.
My problems with them were probably do to the back injury, but I was keeping up on them pretty well and I can't do a single push up to save my life.
