So, antibiotics work if it is a bacterial infection, and you shouldn't ask a board

you should ask a doctor. The thing is. If you get say.. a weak or wrong antibiotic tretment, then you'll just increase resistance to that particular antibiotic which is bad for the entire world, and you. But, and efficient antibiotic treatment kills of bacterial infections.
If it is a virus, then antibiotic won't do a thing, except expose you to antibiotics which is in and on itself not very healthy.
So, go see doctor, and if doctor says no antibiotics, just make sure you get enough water and protein to keep your blood viscosity high and your immune system healthy, and get plenty of rest. And don't use ibuprofen or such to knock down the fewer unless you _really_ have to. Since the reason we get fewer is to make a whole host of chemical proceses in the body move faster, increase viscosity and other things which makes your immune system work faster.
Let me just stress this again, unless you are infected with a bacterial infection that we have a known antibiotic against, then there is no point in taking antibiotics, it will, in fact, just mess with your intestines and all the goodguy(tm) germs down there.
