A new start...Noah's Diary

Hello guys,

My name is Noah and I've always been fat, always liked fried chicken and coca cola!

I'm literally putting on a stone a year - I'm 16 now and almost 16 stone...A few months ago I was 15 stone but exam period started so I was doing no exercise and eating plenty of comfort food...I come from a fat family, so my mum wasn't particularly helpful in making healthy meals for me during this time.

Anyway, summer holidays have started I have 9 weeks or so now...There's no reason not to lose weight and keep it down there - I've got to do it.

I do alot of sports and weight training but my diet is horrendous...I actually haven't been eating take away foods often for the last two years...But I like my meals, I will eat alot of food.

I think the deathblow to my healthiness though is the snacking...I don't know what gets into me, I just eat and then I regret it and when my belly's full...I do the typical fatass thing...Right I'll go on a diet tommorow!!!

I've been on the Atkins and I lost 2/3 stone and I was really happy, I just couldn't maintain it thought - I went on a binge. It's the silliest diet ever and now I'm just going to do it plain straight - low fat foods and LOTS of exercise...I'm guessing if I can do this in 9 weeks I'll be looking alot better.

I'm going to take pictures of myself tonight wearing only shorts (oh god.) so that I can compare them...

I'm really going to need some serious help, I don't want to be obese by the time I'm 18, my family aren't helpful - I really need you guys so that together we can pull me out of this hole.

So...100kg at this moment in time...I'd like to get to 70kg...not necessarily in 9 weeks but thats my ultimate aim.

So thats 220llbs and my aim is to lost 66llbs.

Here goes!

Noah.

Dear Diary,

The last two days have been difficult, it's been raining so I've only done 45 minutes on the exercise bike and some weight training and I've cheated on the food...It's mainly a snacking problem, I know I'm addicted heavily and I'm not sure what to do.

I'm going to go shopping tommorow so that I can choose what foods to buy and I'm secretly going to chuck out junk out the house...I really want to do this but when I see food I just can't and I really dislike myself for indulging in the snack!

An ongoing problem...

Yours,

Noah

Hi Noah, I tell ya, yesterday you confused me. I opened your journal thinking it was mine (a new start for Iwan), lol, I was like, wait a minute, where did all my pages go? Now I've figured it out. I just wanted to stop by again today and give you some motivation. keep it up, maybe when your family sees that you have made positive changes and are losing weight they will want to join in with you. Hey, crazier things have happened! Give your lifestyle change a few months to take hold and change little things at a time. Like, say, week one you cut out cokes, after you maintain that for a few weeks and feel like you have control over that issues, move on to something else, like, no refined sugars. Good luck and you know where to come for help, motivation or a place to complain.

I used to think it was just EASIER to eat whatever, but I didn't consider the emotional cost of being overweight. That is hard. Is it really easier? When we're obese we can always have more food but it seems we can't have anything else.

I realized that my actions indicated that I wanted to stay fat. I DON'T WANT TO STAY FAT.

It seemed I was afraid to be thin. I'M NOT AFRAID TO BE THIN.

Then I had that big moment that ONLY I COULD DO IT.

Wishing you success on the road to change.

Hey guys,

Today went really well...I've not snacked...Or drunken anything but flavoured water / water!!

I had a boiled egg for breakfast (I won't do that everyday), then for lunch I had quite an unhealthy wrap 450 calories...Then I came home did 45 minutes on the exercise bike and some weight training...Then had baked cod and salad...and now I'm going to do another 45 minutes on the exercise bike.

I'll make sure to avoid the wrap tommorow it's because I'd just come out of an open day and was reaaaally hungry.

I've eaten a bit less than usual and am eating tamarind (I had 2 today and 1 nectarine) instead of chocolate and I feel really healthy.

PS. I am feeling tiredness though is that to do with blood sugar levels or something or do I need to hit the sack!?

Helloooo
Just thought I would pop in ..
Sounds like you are doing an awesome job! Keep it up, we are all here doing the same.
As you eat more healthy snacks and meals you will find your skin becoming nicer, your pores no so plugged, you will feel so healthy. Revived, rejuvinated. Its the greatest feeling in the entire world.

I hope you keep up with the work and fun. Exercise can be a lot of fun. I bike or cycle outside and I walk for an hour at a time. I usually do one or the other, I like to mix it up. I just broke a plateau and eventually you will meet some of those, but don't give up, just keep trecking. You will reach your goal, best wishes!

always

Hey Noah! Have you been counting calories? Try fitday.com or calorieking.com. They are a huge help for me. I also have trouble with snacking but I try to stick with healthy stuff. You have to trick your body. SAy you're sitting around and know that their are cookies in the kitchen, you will start craving cookies, when you are just actually craving something sweet and projecting that craving onto the cookies. Trick your body by eating a couple spoonfuls of peanut butter or whipped cream and you'll see that the craving will pass. Try using your body and craving like a science experiment and keep a diary. You will soon see the things that trigger your snacking and what does and doesn't work. Good luck!!

Hi Noah, great work in getting started with your weight loss.

eating more small healthy meals during the day will help keep your metabolism up and stop some of the blood sugar problem you might get when you go a long time between meals as well as reducing some of the cravings you may have for the wrong types of food due to hunger and feeling tired.

Aim for more low GI foods which will keep you feeling full for longer.

What type of sports training do you do in addition to the bike ?

Hey there Trusylver,

I've been using freeweight and just working on my triceps, biceps and my pecs. I've also been doing situps but not pushups..too hard.

Thanks for the support guys, this is awesome, I really want and feel I'm going to make this.
