A New Life

Well I finally decided to get my butt into gear and get rid of all this weight that I have been carrying around for so long, I like many others in the world started to change my eating habits for New Years. However this time I feel it will be different from the many other time I have tried to loose weight. My inspiration for wanting to loose weight this time has come from my Son being born in August last year, I want to be able to run around and enjoy playing with him as he gets older instead of sitting by watching him. I also got a kick up the but to do this when I stepped on my bathroom scale which I might add goes upto 336 lbs (150 Kilos) and it errors because I weigh more than that, I dont want to know how much over I am but my first goal is to get the scale to tell me how much I weigh. I have tried WW in the past and did well for a while but then life happened and I went off track with that. so now I am just making better choices and trying to get more exercise and see how I do, if I dont have any luck and cant get a reading on the scale by Feb 1st I am going to go back to WW but I would rather have my own system work. Better choices, less food, more exercise and more water, stairs instead of elevevators, parking further away from the stores and getting off the bus a few stops earlier. I am going to try to go for a long walk each weekend too

Well thats all I can think of for my introduction hello to all and goodluck with your journey I hope to visit this site often for support and to provide support as we all travel down this road to a better life with a healther and skinnier body.

Good on you for wanting to change. There are some big losers on the forum which may inspire you. Some of us were as large or larger than you are and are now getting down to resonable rates.

A lot of it has to come from inside you, you have to *really* want to do it. But dont go denying yourself all good foods either because that just leaves you hanging out.

Anyway I wish you luck, It does have a huge effect on the kids when you loose the weight, as well as the self confidance.

Start a diary in the diaries thread and keep track of what you eat and when.

You might also want to start a free account on fitday.com which tracks your calories in and calories out (so long as calories in are lower than calories out you will loose weight, doesnt matter what you eat).

Wish you the best!

hi james,
i've found this to be a great place for lots of encouragement...not just your friends or family saying "great idea, good luck with that diet" while they hold a slice of pizza and a coke...but others who are/have been in the same position as we are now, trying to really create healthy lifestyle, who understand exactly how tough it is. i've found great inspiration here, and hopefully you will too!!
good luck, let us know what we can do to help you!

Good luck! There are a lot of good things to find in this forum. I came to this forum for months before I joined. I knew I needed a lifestyle change but didn't want to put it into action. I think that reading the posts of WISHES and PEQUIN have inspired me more than any other thing in my life. These are actually people that know how it is to struggle and I can feel it in their words and it is ginuine, not a "Diet Pill" web-site with phoney before and after pictures that have trapped most of us at one time or another.
