A new lease on life - Xenon's Diary :)

For almost two years now I have been facing multiple health problems which have really had a severe impact on my way of living. I decided to start a new diary because the old one sucked :D and so has my life for the past couple of years. My sisters took some pictures with me today and I realized that I still look sick, and I am doing much much better now. I think it's time for me to put my brushes with death behind me and start living a better life. I have tried to start this so many times before and always fall victim to myself because I focus on one aspect (like weight loss) instead of working on everything gradually. I realise that being severely ill makes you forget how you used to take care of yourself when you were healthy. I feel ready to be better than I have ever been before, and I think my life will enable me to do so this time around.

So here's to a new start!

For my dear friends who were faithful to my old diary, I realise I really have not mentioned my health problems, but I just really did not want to talk about them at all. :) Now I see that trying to ignore it is not going to make me overcome it.

All the best to everyone in your journey!

Welcome back!!
I'm glad to hear that you're ready to start again! And you're right, your health can be a major distraction to your goals. I was quite ill with lower back pain a few years ago, and I can remember that all i wanted to do was forget about the pain- and sometimes all that I would work was indulging in the junk food I liked! Little did I know that doing that would also make the pain worse!

Now I'm trying to fight that circle- and lose the weight I put on while I was ill!!

We can do it! You've made an awesome step by coming on here and starting this diary!!

Good luck :)

Thanks Sunshyne :)

Hi Tik:waving:
URGGGH! I feel for you, lower back pain sux and is very stressful...it really takes a toll on the emotions. I also used food as an indulgence and am trying to restore order and control back into my life. It will take some work, but it is more than worth it and long over due. I think you have to be a little crazy to be successful on this weight loss journey, and I really want to be a sexC b**** :D
I'm looking forward to your success, I know you can do it!

Before I skip off... I wanted to note this really fast. I have been taking online classes in college so far, and I will have to start taking classes on campus this summer because the classes are not offered online. One thing that is really frightening me, is not being able to fit in the chair/desk apparatus...YIKES! I had to go to school for a proctored exam last term and could not put the desk portion down because of my tummy....I was able to do so when I was just 25lbs lighter. So I would like to challenge myself to lose at least 50 lbs by Summer. :D If you shoot for the moon and miss you'll be among the stars, right?

Oooh shiny new diary :)
I used to lurk a little in your old one :p

Those desk chair things are a nightmare! I get really paranoid everytime I'm near one, and have had a few near misses with them in the past trying to slide in without moving the desk bit first!

Good luck on your 50lbs by summer, thats my goal too!! :)

Xenon!!

We are SOOO going to be sexy beee'chz this summer!! :) We can TOTALLY do it! Heck, I think the hardest step is actually admitting to yourself that you're not happy, and you want to do something about it- and we've already done that :D

What are you taking in college!? You're going to totally wow them with your awesomeness when you get there :)

Thx Redpiggy :D and thanks for your lurkdom haha
Those desk chair things are the hell...its amazing tho, when I was younger and less fat I didn't give them a second thought lol That's so cool that you're planning on losing 50 lbs by summer as well:coolgleamA: I think you can totally do it!

Good luck... 50 lbs by summer. you can do that!
Thanks so much Tob :) It is really encouraging to hear someone say that. I think summer term is starting in June and I was wondering if I was being a bit too aggressive. BTW the baby in your avatar is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute!

We SO are :D I'll be 225 if I lose 50lbs by then...how exciting! You're right about it being the hardest part...I was so down today cos I really did not realise how awful I look. Oh well, at least I'm doing something about it as you said.
I'm currently working on my :icon_bs: lolol Bachelor of science and I'm double majoring in physics and chemistry. I want to do astrophysics for my grad degrees.

Howdy
Good luck to the new you. I am back to the ol forum after skipping out for several months. It was diabetes that slapped me in the face and got me going. I wish you well. So are you exercising and dieting? Got a plan? We all need a plan.

Xenon, hon, its completely possible - going to take some hard work but 50lbs is doable. Just keep focused on what you want at the end because that's worth more than something you enjoy eating for 5 minutes.

Lots of hugs and gratz on the new diary, new steps :D

Oh, and as for being sexY -that's SO gonna happen!

Hi jjjay :) Thanks for putting things into perspective! I'm definitely going to be working hard at it. *hugs*

Hi Brawny :) Yea I was also off and on for a few months.
I started out at 295 and went down to 251, since I went away I gained 24lbs and am up to 275. Sorry to hear about the diabetes, but I'm very happy that you're working towards being healthy.:hurray: My father was borderline some years ago. He also worked at being healthy and he is doing much better.

My plans are good old diet and exercise...I'll be counting cals and doing cardio and strength training. I'm sort of weak though so it will be a while before I add weights. I really want to strengthen my core and am looking for a good regimen where that is concerned. I want to get back into bellydancing and I am going to give zumba a try (thanks Tik). I was also somewhat secretly pondering getting back on the six week body makeover. I lose weight at a good pace with that and it is easy to follow.

I need to put more stuff in this diary ...but I am so pooped -_-

Hey there!!

Just wanted to send you some awesome vibes!! And I thought of you today, as I'm trying to gear myself up to go to zumba this evening :) :)

Hope all is well! And school is treating you good!

lol I was just looking up their DVD set online....$59.95 not bad, although I wish I could try just one for less. School is being evil lol I'm sure I did terribly on that calc exam yesterday...had a horrible month health-wise and fell behind on lectures. Have fun today Tik and thanks for stopping by!

I am having an otherwise awful day and am about to go to sleep...for the past 6 days I've been getting 4-5 hours of sleep and last nite I only got three. The little one keeps waking in the middle of the night and last night he would not go back to sleep...so I let my husband sleep and drove him around so that he could sleep (the baby that is). going to sleep a little now *passes out*

I'm sorry you feel poorly and I hope you can finally get some decent rest! I remember how it was when my four were little tykes. Egads! I don't think I slept for about five years!
I don't know HOW you keep up with your classes. Well done, though!

BTW- I LOVE it that you are Cool Science Geek Girl!!!

Hey kiddo...good luck on that calc. My Under grad degree was in Biology so I didnt have to take it. Thank God! But doctorral statistics almost wiped me out. Anyway I stopped in to explode a virtual bomb of positive energy.....He lights the fuse......BOOOM ....There...aint it pretty? Hang in there....Fight the good fight

Hey there!

Sorry to hear about your bummer of a week :( But you know what? Give yourself kudos for even taking Cal! i ran away from that course sooooo fast!! It's hard though when you get sick and miss a few classes...but you seem like a very motivated and determined person, which means you probably carry that over to your studies! I'm sure you can catch up, and do great :)

As for the zumba- you might want to try surfing youtube! They often have some instructional videos that you can watch and then try!! :)

Let me know if you do! And how you like it! Or if that fails, pop in some tunes and shake what the Lord gave ya!! :D

How old is your little one!? :) You should be so proud of yourself! I can barely juggle going to school and trying to lose weight- and you're doing tons more than that! Keep up the great work! And you're doing fantastic!

haha thanx Rox x Geekdom rules! :D

OMG four little ones, I don't know how you did it! I think anyone who can raise more than one child healthily is superwoman/ superman :) I feel like I'm losing my mind sometimes with only one...and I think my crazy husband wants more... he may have to try to have them himself tho :p

Keeping up with classes is a lot of work, and it is important to make good grades for the field I want to go into. I made my very first "B" last semester because I injured my writing hand and could not finish an exam. I was so depressed and everyone thought I was really overdoing it, but I feel I truly need to be the creme of the crop, know what I mean?

*is entranced* pretty lights @_@ lol thanks for the positive energy Brawny! I had 'Biology I' last term and I hope I never have to take biology again...at least until I finish some organic chemistry classes. I got lost somewhere between the redox reactions, the citric acid cycle and adenosine triphosphate LOL but I managed to pull it together to get an A and it really helped me to understand the human metabolism and why it is just so hard to get rid of fat. And although I like math, doctoral statistics sounds like something I don't even want to be a part of :D

Thankz Tik. The calculus is not so bad but I think they should make algebra classes more geared towards calculus...I get lost sometimes in how they are factoring things...until I realise they did like three steps in one or something like that. I managed to get in all of the lectures before the exam, but my brain still felt like fuzz LOL

I checked out you tube and came across core rhythms! They have a 20 min workout on tudor and i did that today. I'm going to try the zumba when the little one wakes. He's 16 months old :) And he screams SO loudly! I'm thinking of getting some earplugs. I know they say they're testing out their voice and limits at the toddler stage but geez...I'm really responsive to him and I can hear him even when he whispers lol

Thanks so much for the encouragement everyone! I got rest yesterday and he slept through the night last night. I'm trying to work a little in advance for my classes so I'll be back later to catch up on what's going on with everyone. Have a great day!
