Hello to everyone,
About three months ago I decided to loose weight and get into shape. I read many stories how difficult it would be and once you loose it you'll get it back right away. Yes, I researched all those quick diets advertised everywhere and than I stumbled on this forum. Thank you all for the advice and most of all the motivation to do it. See, I am a numbers man, and numbers motivate me.
Me? I am 5'8" tall 43 years old and have been roughly the same weight for the past ten years. Let's backtrack 62 days (9 weeks).
My weight 207 pounds, BMI 29.9 and body fat 26.35%. For the first two weeks I didn’t do exercise since the weight came off fairly easy. I controlled my eating habits and held by 1200 - 1500 calories a day (2 meals per day) without really keeping a journal. Well, I lost 10 pounds in two weeks and I got real excited. But was I doing it right? Also I have to admit, the first ten days was real hard and felt hungry a lot.
Two weeks later, I purchased an elliptical workout machine and also a computer program to track my entire nutrient intake. Wow... was I off! Yes the calorie count was right on, but my fat and sugar intake, way high... protein? Almost none existence. More advice from this forum and here I am no 62 days later...
181.4 pounds, lost 25.6 so far
BMI 27.4... yes I know... says I'm still overweight
Body fat 13.59%, down from 26.35%
Workout? Seven days a week at 6:30 AM do cardio on my elliptical for 30 minutes (different inclines) and when I come home from work Monday to Friday 6:00 PM another 30 minutes cardio. Yes, I know... seems a bit much, but it works for me. Also my goal is to loose another 10 - 15 pounds and switch my evening workout to weight exercises.
My calorie intake lies between 1200 - 1500 daily, most of all I am controlling now also protein, fat, sugar and pretty much all aspect of the nutrition label. Also my meals are six times daily with a lot of veggies and fruits (Oh, how much I miss chocolate and ice ream). Like I mentioned before... a numbers game in the end.
Yes, I want to be healthy (and believe me, I feel very well right now), but numbers motivate me. Stepping every day on the scale and seeing a drop in weight (even it's only .2 pounds a day sometimes)... it wants me to do better. Measuring my stomach and seeing it shrink every week... awesome (from a size 38 to 34). And also BMI doesn't tell me much my body fat went down drastically. So yes to numbers
Thanks again... couldn't have done it without all your guys input and love my computer program.
