A Lena Me

Hello!

So this is my first diary posting. :) I am so excited to be here. I guess to give some background information...I recently went through a tough breakup with a boyfriend of over a year. During our relationship, I definitely catered to him and his lifestyle. Whereas I have always been a more active person, he wanted to always order take out and sit on the couch. Yeek...definitely learned a lesson there. So the only thing this relationship left me with was a few extra pounds...I've decided I need to lose some weight to leave this relationship behind and get back to "old me".

I used to be an avid runner, doing something like 6 miles a day. Well...I've started back up and I definitely can't go that far anymore haha. It's nice though because I live close to a lake, so I'm trying to get into the habit of waking up and going for a run in the morning. My classes are almost over for the semester (Tuesday is my last exam!). So I will hopefully have more time to get some good workouts in.

I'm also trying to change the way I eat....which is hard. I've totally gotten used to the whole "eating out" lifestyle. It's definitely what's been coming slower for me as opposed to the exercise. But I really do LOVE healthy food. So it shouldn't be as hard.

This morning I went for a run and have been exercising around the apartment. :) I'm overall feeling positive. I think in the past when I've tried "dieting" I've gone into the situation expecting to fail and also not realizing that it's my lifestyle that I need to change. That's what's different this time, and I'm fully ready for it. :) Hope to see you all around!

Awesome! Seems like that relationship wasn't doing you any good health wise. Good for you for making the changes to get back to your old self. That is so cool.

Welcome to the forums and I'll be checking back :)

Hi and welcome to the forums. Seeing how you have already such a great outlook, I think you're well upon your way to success!

Thanks everyone! I am looking to lose...meh..I'm not exactly sure...15-20 lbs? I currently weigh about 134, but I am pretty short (about 5'1) so...a little goes a long way for me. I am just sort of worried because I have lots of muscle (definitely like...a gymnasts build) so I don't know if my body will let me lose that much weight...does this make sense?

Anyways...I've found a new favorite snack. Have any of you heard of Fage?! It's Greek Yogurt and ohhhh my goodness...it's heavenly. In one serving there are 120 calories, between 15-20 g of protein, no fat (I prefer the 0% kind) and between 7-9g of sugar. It's honestly amazing...except I don't eat it plain. I put some Splenda in it with maybe a bit of honey and cinnamon. Maybe eat it with some fruit. Just a suggestion, it's awesome. It's more expensive than regular yogurt but totally worth it. I highly recommend it.

So today I've eaten so far...

Two eggs: 180 Calories
Two pieces whole grain toast: 180 Calories
Some graham crackers: 180 Calories
Total: 540 Calories

I've also been greatly increasing my water intake which I feel will help. I am slowly kicking my diet Coke addiction (it's...painful to say the least haha).

In addition to running I've also taken to walking to destinations like the grocery store when it's nice out. I really enjoy this as well. Also, medicine balls are amazing too. I've been trying to incorporate those into my daily routine...so we'll see. Thanks for stopping by!
