A bad way of losing weight but...

Hey, I know starvation is one of the worst methods of losing weight. Especially because when you start eating again, you gain it all back. But here's what I was wondering. Let's say someone starved themself until they lost 100 pounds. Then, when they went back to eating, slowly increased their food amount, that way they stabilized their bodies out before gaining back the 100 pounds? Would this work?

By the way, I wasn't thinking about trying this. But the idea popped into my head and I was wondering about it.

You don't want to stop eating completely. But its long been known that eating less is healthier than eating more. If someone stopped eating COMPLETELY to lose 100lbs, they would probably cause severe damage to their internal organs and have health problems for the rest of their life.

But you can eat less to lose weight, yes.

I think that if a person who decided to stop eating at all to loss 100 lbs would have to take A LOT of vitamin/mineral supplements and of course tons of water! Fat doesn't have a lot of nutritional content, ya know ;)

Definitely wouldn't recommend it anyways, but something like that *might* help with any internal damage that Fatass mentioned in this purely hypothetical situation.

A good example of this is what happened to Lance Armstrong in one of his tour de france runs. During the course of the event, 33,000 calories are burned in physical activity alone, on top of your body's regular caloric requirements. He became malnourished and eventually ended up with exhaustion. He sustained permanent damage to his kidney and liver function.

WOW imagine and exercise that burned that many calories in just an hour...that would be perfect.
Poor guy though, althetes go to extremes in their careers, its a great effort but so glorified without the after effects ever shown.

I did this

Hi there guys,
I wanted to pass along that I did this once. I lost 85 pounds in less than 3 months. I felt terrible, I lost alot of my hair and ended up gaining 130 pounds back. Trust me, it is not worth it. The point of losing weight is to feel better and be healthier. I can not stress enough what a toll this took on my body. Now that I am trying to lose weight the healthy way my metabolism is super resistant. Hopefully this will curb anyone's thoughts of trying this. The rice diet is working super great for me. It is really fast weight loss and it is very healthy. Feel free to check it out on our Rice diet thread. Have a great day guys and think HEALTHY!!

heres another reason along w/ all the good ones above. You will also cause your immune system to shut down. You can get pneunomina (i know i spelled it wrong) among other diseases that your immune system naturally fights off.
